I think it would be cool, but unless it does really with the D-League I dont think it will happen.

There won't be enough time in the schedule. Everyone wants to help support the New Orleans on Friday and the day goes fast. They barely fit the Barkley-Bavetta race last year on Saturday. Just too much stuff, they cannot have time for a game of horse.

I thought they were already doing that...

They used to do it and they would film it before the big events and you could watch it later.

I think I remember seeing Jeff Malone compete a long time ago.

Um, there already is a HORSE tournament scheduled for this year's All Star game.

It's being played over All-Star weekend with D-leaguers.

Probably a trial run, and if it works NBA players could be doing it next year.

Morris Almond, Lance Alfred, Jeremy Richardson, and Kasib Powell are participating.

The only real way to bring the all-star game to an elite "super bowl-esque" show would be to bring in a one-on-one king of the court tournament. Single elimination, and the winner would be crowned the Best player in the NBA. And the trick here, is to let the fans decide on who gets to play. kobe, lebron, wade, gilbert, tmac, vince, How exciting would that be. Three competitions: Guards, Forwards, Centers.

I'd definitely tune into watch that. Shoot, I'd pay to watch a one-on-one tourney that featured the best wingmen the nba had to offer.

While I agree, you can't let the fans decide who's playing, simply because you can't force players to participate.

But if you could get ~8 players a year, bracket-style single-elimination, that'd be awesome. At the very least, get D-leaguers to do it if the NBA players aren't amenable yet. They're always eager to prove themselves.

Aren't players contractually obligated to show up at allstar games (if they're voted in)?

Same idea, have a voting system for that King of the Court deal.

Exactly, they have to participate if they're voted into the game anyways. So if you let the fans decide who gets to participate in the King of the court challenge. Ratings would be through the roof. And i'm sure everyone's ego and pride would push them to compete harder than they would in a team game. Imagine if someone like Lebron gets beat by a rookie likeDurant. That would be pretty embarrassing.
