When's the trade deadline?

I've heard Feb. 22, which is on a Friday, but I was almost positive the deadline was always on a Thursday. So which is it, Feb. 22 (Friday) or Feb. 21 (Thursday)?

Its the 21st. I did not even know it was Thursday, but I know it's the 21st.

It is the date during the season after which trades are prohibited. It is defined as the 16th Thursday of the season. The prohibition on trades lasts until the day following the team's final game of the season (see question number 85).

11:59 PM on 21st or 12:00 AM on the 22. WHat's the difference?

Honestly, I thought it was 5:00 PM eastern time give or take, but I could not find the exact hour.

The deadline can't come soon enough for Lakers fans and most Western Conference playoff teams fans. No body wants to deal with Kidd or Artest in the playoffs.

Isn't the deadline usually at like 3:00 PM? I thought I heard that last year, and there are never any trades being reported after 6 PM, so it makes sense...

It's 3:00 P.M. EST - So the trade deadline is at Thursday February 21, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. EST in the afternoon.
