Ok we are hearing now that because Devon Douche baG George blocked the trade that Dallas may try to do a S&T including Van Horn. Mark Cuban continues to say that he is trying to avoid that rout because he does not want to increase the teams payroll.
Here is my question.
Could Cuban be holding on to KVH as a trump card later on.
In other words. Dallas makes a deal not involving KVH to get J.Kidd. Now lets say that the Mavs then up their ante after a Kidd trade not involving Kidd to get let's say Jermain Oneal from Indy using KVH?
Could KVH be Cubans Wild Card at the end of the day to get 2 big deals done?
Mark Cuban/Keith Van Horn?

I don't think that's it at all.
If Cuban budges and uses KVH, then the Nets FO would demand him using it on Stack instead of having to buy out Stack. And if that is the case, then Cuban would be paying another 17 mil x 2 for Stack throughout the remainder of his contract when he could just sign Stack to a vet min. In essance, buying out Stack would be like the Nets paying 17 mil of Kidd's salary next year and the Mavs only spending 15.5 mil for Kidd (Kidd 21 minus Stack 6.75 + vet min 1.25).
Cuban has refused to use KVH all year and has refused to sign anyone with our MLE because he has become a tightwade.

The year KVH retired has nothing to do with it.
There is ABSOLUTLEY NO stipulation on how long a player can be out of the league before he can be signed, unless
1) He officially retires....which he hasn't
or
2) We renounce him...and even then, we can resign him using bird rights after a 1 year cooling off period. If they want to sign him within that year, they must use an exception to sign him (assuming over the cap)
