Wilbon's Idea

Not to worry, I have a Plan B. The fans would vote for a total of 30 all-stars, and the two biggest vote-getters would pick their own teams. Garnett, the No. 1 vote-getter, would get the first pick.

James, the No. 2 vote-getter, would get the second pick . . . And back and forth they'd go, like on the playground. So if KG picked a guy to get him the ball, say Nash, Kobe might pick a big man, say Howard.

Think about the buzz that would create, about the alliance and what we'd find out about what players really think about the other all-stars and who they really valued? Once again, it would be two weeks of buzz preceding the game. Players would get to do something all of them want to do: act as general managers. Again, once you pick a team, pride would be at stake . . .

Of course it's not going to happen but it might be fun . . . . what do you think of the idea/who do you think they'd pick first (starting 5's only)?

Both this, and the USA vs. the World idea are an improvement over the game as it stands.

Dumb idea. It embarrasses the players who aren't as good as the superstars.

I really like that idea. I hadn't ever considered that, but a pick up game would be even better than a US vs World game imo.

That would make it even more fun to vote Antoine Walker into the game. So that he can shimmy while waiting to be picked. And waiting...

This game would turn into the top picks choosing their friends.

Interesting idea. Here is how I think the picks would play out looking at the All Star rosters now.

1. Kobe
2. Lebron
3. Dwight
4. KG
5. Duncan
6. Yao
7. Amare
8. Wade
9. Pierce
10. Nash
11. Boozer
12. Paul
13. Rasheed
14. Carmelo
15. Dirk
16. Bosh
17. Iverson
18. Caron
19. West
20. Chauncey
21. Roy
22. Kidd
23. Joe Johnson
24. Jamison
25. Hamilton
26. Ray Allen

Have you ever been picked last? It sucks. It's embarrassing to be picked last or be picked close to last.

This is professional, not playground even though they play like it is the playground in the ASG.

It's different because they are all all stars- it's not like they are being picked last out of the entire NBA.

Considering neither Yao nor Yi were the first or second highest vote getter, that at least wouldn't have been the case this year.

it'll prolly get lost in translation

"I'll take Jet Li"

"The Protector!!"

"Dice-K"

"next pick: Tmac"

You can say that about the current ASG.

All superstars are picked anyway. Its not like Shane Battier, Paul Millsap, and Devin Harris would ever be picked over the likes of Tracy McGrady, VC, ect.
