Imagine if NBA expands to Europe. They are gonna have to play 10 national anthems before every game.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

it seems fitting considering Canada's basketball history
1st year basketball was at the olympics (1936) Canada won the silver medal, US won gold (Mexico won bronze).
1st international player to win 2 mvp's from Canada (S. Nash was the 2nd international basketball player to win any mvp's).
Toronto was home to 1 of the 11 original nba teams
then there's James Naismith.
Canada's always been big enough for 2 nba teams, it was the league that wasn't ready.

The NBA should come up with it's own anthem, like European soccer does with the Champions League.
Like here, when the teams hit the field, the anthem plays.

Just come up with a league anthem already.

and 29 of the teams where it is played are in the United States--and one team in Canada. The rest of you can blow off the National Anthem blithely I guess, but as a veteran I resent the hell out of the suggestion that it should be omitted The day the NBA eliminates the anthems before games is the last day the NBA gets any of my money--and the day, I'm willing to bet, every veterans organization in the country will be working to have the NBA boycitted.
That some of you agree with skipping it (many of you, I'm sure, would never think of serving, content to let others die for you...) says some very bad things about the state of patriotism in this country. Nauseating!

If you guys don't want to watch/hear the anthem, hit up the fridge for a beer and come back for tip-off.
I personally love the anthems both the Canadian and the American (obviously the Canadian because I'm in Toronto)
The league is in two countries and therefore should play both before games. Although, I'm pretty sure that (as an example) when the Knicks play the Celtics, they do not play the Canadian anthem.

It's a respectful thing to do, if there wasn't a canadian team it would be different.... but there is....
It's not like they just chose a random country to play an anthem of, Toronto is an equal NBA city.
