Was Dwight Howard's "Superman" Dunk Really a Dunk?

Looks like he came up short and just chucked the ball towards the basket and it luckily fell through...
Don't you have to at least touch the rim with your hands for it be considered a dunk and not just a shot?

A half court shot should be considered a dunk too! But remember, you gotta jump really really high before you shoot the half court shot.

I don't care, man. That was the sickest flight dunk that I have ever seen. He took off from a far distance. He truly was superman. He gets props for the flight in my opinion. Everybody's reactions were because of the flight. That was nasty. There is only a couple of people that could fly from that distance in their prime and their names are Jordan, 'Nique, and Vince. I literally fell outta my chair. I'm not being a homer because if Gerald would have done it, I would have had the same reaction. I'm happy for him because he truly got robbed last year.
BTW, it was one of the greatest dunks of all time in the dunk contest IMHO. Not trying to take anything away from the "through-the-legs" dunk, but it has been proven that it can be duplicated by many. Now, how many people can do what Dwight did? The best dunk contest dunk of all time was Carter's "hand stuck in the rim" dunk. I have not seen that duplicated successfully. Dwight's dunk is in the top 5.

Should it go down as one of the greatest dunks in the history of the game? Yes.
Wait, what?

Gotta go with "Who cares it was awesome". In fact, you know it's awesome when you're sitting around with a bunch of chicks and even they're like "whoa!"

yes it was a dunk, as it was thrust down through the hoop from above. It's not a traditional dunk, but a dunk nonetheless.

Based on the multiple definitions from legit sources The Letter J showed it would pretty much be a dunk. I believe I remember KG doing a similar move as well off a rebound. Either way it was an impressive display.

Michael Jordan did it in space jam, except I think Dwight took off from further back

that was actually more remarkable than a dunk, since he actually made it
kudos to Dwight for implementing props into the contest successfully
