Disappointing Dunk Contest

Post#1 » by GopherIt! » Sun Feb 17, 2008 10:13 am

I need to Rant...

That dunk contest was as scripted as a WWE match. All five judges gave their clear support for D12 before the contest began and then (surprise) gave him a perfect 100 score in the first round, ensuring he'd get into the finals where (surprise) the fans voted for him over benchwarmer Gerald Green to be their dunk king. LOTS of suspense there!

Once we knew what the judges were thinking, Gay, Moon and Green never even have a chance. Moon made an incredible dunk on his second go that was as amazing as it was technically difficult and the faithful judges scored it a mere 45. Green's cupcake dunk rated a 46. I tell you what, that was the best damned 46 I've ever seen. Maybe if Gerald sang three verses of "Happy Birthday to You" and made a wish before he blew out the candle he'd get the 50. Maybe. All I know is that cupcake dunk was an riot.

Maybe on the whole D12 had the best set of dunks, I don't know. The dunks themselves were fun. I just think it would be a lot cooler if it wasn't so obviously a popularity contest with the fans and judges and more about the actual competition.

...I feel better.
