can end up stopping the trade like george?

the nba has to make it more flexible to make deals..

it makes no sense that in these trades you have to involve scrub players nobody wants just to add up salary..

I agree that the NBA needs to make it easier to trade players.

It's fun when a trade goes down and imagine the interest a big trade creates for the league and the fans.

it's not the NBA's fault that the Mavs gave George a no-trade clause. It's their own fault.

Actually, it's the CBA's fault; the no-trade clause was an automatic provision.

George just wants a big paycheck and we can't blame him for that.

if the Mavs really want Kidd they can always use Keith Van Horn to solve the issue.

Don't blame the system, the system works great. Blame the Mavs for giving Devin George a no-trade clause. Its the Mavs fault and only the Mavs fault that this deal didn't happen.

Did you even read Schadenfreude's post?

The only player in the league with an actual no-trade clause is Kobe Bryant. There are certain provisions within the CBA (one-year Bird, matching restriction) that can allow players to veto trades - these are not granted by the team but rather are automatically inserted into the contract without the team having a say. This is not Dallas's fault, this is George's agent wanting a little incentive to waive the clause, hence Cuban's remarks.

Please read the damn thread before you make misinformed comments.

Its not the Mavs. its the CBA.

its not like the mavs arent aware of the cba rules.

they probably weren't aware, they just choked..

the Mavs are such an embarrassing franchise..choking in the finals with a 2-0 lead, choking against a #8 seed after a 67-win season, and now choking in a trade vs. a no-name player that looks like a pig..what kind of NBA franchise is this..

Can I blame him for being dumb enough to think he could actually get a big contract?

This has to be the most inane post ever.

A team choking versus a Front Office underestimating one Agent's wherewithall? versus them being a perennial Play-Off team throughout the 2000's? I would say they are a model franchise. They make a ton of money, they do well every year and they aren't afraid to bite the bullet and make moves.

doing well every year doesn't mean anything in the long run..if they are doing it for money, that's different..I'm speaking about on the court results..winning a championship is what it's all about, and they've had two great chances, but had 2 of the worst choke jobs in NBA history..that is why the Mavs are a joke..they lost a 2-0 lead IN THE NBA FINALS, the most important series any team can be playing in..what's worse is that they pretty much lost to ONE GUY that beat their entire team..then going on a tear the next season, winning an incredible amount of games, only to be the 1st team in NBA history to lose to the 8th seed in a 7-game series..that's pathetic..

I'd rather be Miami, where I win the title, and then become the worst team in the NBA..winning the title is all that matters..if anybody actually remembers this generations Mavs in the future, it'll be because of their choke jobs, not because of their "playoff success"..

There have been more than enough big trades this year. If they always happened this frequentlythen it wouldn't be a big deal anymore. It's fine how it is.

The Mavs management are to be blamed for this. Why wouldn't they ask George before they proposed the trade? They should know what type of contract George has.
