At first, sorry to mods if there is any similar topic. I haven't seen it

Yesterday, we could see two different styles in the Slam Dunk Contest.

On the one hand, Jamario Moon and Rudy Gay, who represented a traditional side of the contest. Plastic dunks, perhaps with a higher level of difficulty, but always the same we have seen some years ago.

On the other hand, Gerald Green and Dwight Howard. Perhaps they did not so complicated dunks, but they chose to be more original than others (D12 didn't have another option being a 7.0 center if he wanted to win it).

I think that's what people wants to see. It's entertainment, amusing to see. Perhaps it has been the year i liked the most. Amazing. New ideas, new fresh air to a contest where everything was invented, and it is so dificult to wonder the crowd.
Besides, most of these dunks had a good level. Being surprising, spectacular and make a good dunk is not exclusive

That's incredible.

The birthday cake dunk and the superman dunk are the dunks that bring in non-NBA fans. IMO you gotta have all kinds of dunks.

I'll take the "classic" ones. They're dunks and it's a dunk contest. It may be difficult to come up with novel moves these days, but the turn towards costumes, props, and gimmicks was a wrong one. The pageantry level is approaching that of professional wrestling. We should value creativity--creativity in the air. Creativity in wardrobe is unnecessary.

I've seen the herrman dunk before and I almost forgot this one. IMO the most creative dunk I've seen in my life!!! awesome :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I like the classic dunks more. I didn't think the birthday cake dunk and the plastic basketball hoop dunk were that good. Moon's first dunk was better than both of those. Dwight's best dunk was the lob and tip off the glass dunk.

I knew Green stole his last dunk somewhere. Now that u bring up the Herrmann dunk, I remember from whom he stole it.
But cause Americans are a lot more prude (especially on TV) he used the censored version.

Besides I voted for the original dunks, cause for me, the SDC is for getting to see something new, exciting, original. Classic dunks can be seen all the time, I don't need no SDC for that, as dunks like f.e. Gay's 1st can be seen in regular games.
