Who would win in a real game: West vs. East starters

Post#1 » by Ballfan » Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:44 am

Me and my friends were arguing about this:

Who would win in a real, competitively-played, streetball type game between the two supposed starting lineups of the West and East conferences

West:
C Yao
PF Duncan
SF Carmello
SG Kobe
PG Iverson

East:
C Howard
PF Garnett
SF Lebron
SG Wade
PG Kidd

Personally, I think that the East would take it because that front court is viscious, and overall the East squad would just work together better.

On the other hand a good argument could be made for the West as the East might struggle with that perimeter game. The West has Kobe and Carmelo who definetly have a shot.

Vote and comment to settle this argument!!!!!!!!

edit: sorry for the re-post...I messed up the poll options

The East starters would win, but the West would win if the bench was included.

Frontcourt>>>>> Backcourt in terms of deciding a game, so the East wins this.

Kidd is way better in this type of game than Iverson. East.

Yao > Howard
Duncan>>>>>>KG

West wins even though they have Carmelo playing worse defense than the South during the Civil War.

West wins because Kobe can use his taped-up bum pinky "MITTEN" to slap around some peeps...

Some of the bench from west is actualy better than starters... like nash and paul > iverson at PG... Duncan doesn't play seriously in allstar game but if it was for championship he would dominate any PF.... i would arguably put dirk at SF over carmelo... triple tower

Replace AI with Paul. AI is the bottleneck here.

Agree with what is posted so far. West would win with Nash/Paul replacing Iverson. With the line-up given in the OP, East wins.

Its not necessarily that the East has better players, its more that they fit together better. The East lineup is full of good unselfish passers. Kidd/LeBron/Dwight have great chemistry. The whole team can run the floor well and meshes well with each other.

West, you can't beat a combo of Kobe and Duncan.
