Were quick to bash Stern, But...

The relief that was provided for the community in New Orleans this weekend is really a story that is going to get overlooked. Sure there are a few commercials promoting what they did, but Im sure that's not enough. It provided great entertainment, money and most of all smiles on the kids faces. Kudos David Stern for this one.

I've always thought Stern has done a great job, and now with what he's doing in NO, it's simply amazing. He's a classy guy.

Don't delude yourselves. This is strictly a business move and business is all David Stern cares about. He does not care about fans or communities.

I agree, David Stern is a truly amazing business man, but to say he does not care about the fans is ridicilous, every move he makes is to make money, who does he get that money from? the fans? its only in his best interest to care about the fans and communities.

You can't hate too much on what nba cares has done even if it is for selfish reasons... the true heroes are the ones that put effort without wanting recognition. Stern did it for recognition to make nba basketball look better... but he doesnt care about other people more then himself.. The guy is as selfish as it gets.

can you name a time where a league/team/business didn't promote charity work?

fact is they are helping people out and you are bitching about it on a message board.

Every time he suspends or fines someone it is due to the fact that the NBA cares... it all goes to charity :D

irrelevant. people's objective analysis of his decisions shouldn't only be limited to bad ones.

They really did do a lot for the community here, and God knows we need it.

If the NBA really cared, they'd be doing this more than 1 week a year, and it wouldn't have cameras following them around the entire time.

I mean, the work itself was AWESOME, and needs to be done, and having big names doing it is also a boon, but cmon, it wasn't like Kobe called KG and they just decided to go help rebuild out of the blue.
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

actually KG already donated 1.2 million, all of which went to rebuilding efforts, and that was way before this, it was while he was still a timberwolf.
