Stern: Knicks will be better next season

The New York Post -
During a press conference in New Orleans NBA commissioner David Stern told the press that he thinks the Knicks will be better next season, according to the New York Post.
It could be possible that Stern is aware that front office changes are imminent in New York.
"I'm optimistic, at least for next season," Stern said.

As long as they don't trade their pick away for more crap I can't see how they wouldn't be a little better.

It's kinda weird for Stern to say something like that. I'd like to have seen the press conference to judge it by the context of his quote. Maybe it serves as a warning to Dolan and Isiah or something?

If they do win the lottery, then I quit the NBA. Can Stern be impeached? He got lucky when MJ came into the league, but he is long past his due. I'd take Selig over Stern, and thats saying something.
I mean, he has to be one of the primary reasons the NBA completely hit rock bottom no less than a year after MJ left the league (the second time).

Actually, Stern is the reason the league is still successful after the departure of MJ and the ref scandal. The guy is a good commissioner, don't forget all the good things he's done for the league.

If by successful you mean god awful in television ratings, the worst officiating in any major sport, the forced marketability of stars that shouldn't be marketed, and favorism of those stars, then yes, why the NBA is hugely sucessful.

If Stern was impeached or anything like that, who would replace him? Meaning, would it be like someone from the front office of the NBA or someone outside of the NBA OR does Stern get to choose?

1985 all over again. Here's what's gonna happen. Knicks take Rose with the first pick. Then, both Melo and Bron are traded to the Knicks in a sign and trade. Epic it shall be.
PS. I am only half-joking. After Gasol trade anything is possible.

I'm not sure if it has been brought up....but does any other Commissioner for any other major sport comments specifically single out any particular team?
Whenever I read comments like this from Stern.....I tend to think that he favors ( or criticizes ) the Knicks Franchise too much. The Knicks are like the special child in the family that Stern tends to favor.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks end up with the #1 or #2 pick in the draft next season. And if they did.....I would seriously question Stern's comments. At least if Stern doesn't make any comments.....he can silently rig the draft without anyone noticing.

Knicks have one of the 3 or 4 worst records in the league, they dont need Stern to rig the lotto to have a good chance at winning it.
