Too late: the Laker fan already voted for Kobe first. Hence this whole thread goes in his favor, even if runs for another 100 pages.

1. Chris Paul (Team is Number 1 in the West, and putting up amazing numbers on a team compared to other Elite teams don't have the players.)
2. Kobe Bryant (His team is 18 games over 500. and is putting up the stats that an MVP is doing)
3. Lebron James (Doing it by himself, and leading the league in points having ridiculous numbers. Team is 4th the east)
4. Kevin Garnett (Pretty much the Catalyst of the team, the heart and sould of the team. Numbers may be down alittle, but he is the teams best player)
5. Dwight Howard (Though he is my favorite player, he has gotten alot of help from Hedo Turkoglu. Who has stepped up this season)
6. Steve Nash (Doing his thing like he does every year)
7. Tim Duncan (He is up there every year, and has been putting up better numbers)
8. Chris Bosh (Team is number 5 of the east, and the team has been playing better)
9. Allen Iverson (Though the team is barely in the playoffs, statistics are there)
10. Dirk Nowitiski (Has been playing up to par as of late with the team, though I hate the team and him)

Good list. Agree with Paul being the best candidate right now.

Out of your 10 MVP candidates, which is a player that plays on a team that wouldn't make the playoffs if they played in the opposite conference?
An MVP has to be on a team that is AT LEAST on pace for 50 wins and would make the playoffs in either conference.
Having PP at 9 and KG at 6 is clearly reputation bias.

Though many media members seem to use that criteria, I fail to see why I have to as well. This is my list. Were I able to vote, this is how I would vote. I think the Cavs would have the worst record in the NBA without LeBron. His team is awful. He is more valuable to his team than everyone not named Chris Paul.
Kevin Garnett has missed nine games and the Celtics continue to win. I think if Pierce was injured and Garnett was playing the Celtics would win as well. Garnett is more valuable when both players are in the line up. Obviously, he is a better rebounder and defensive player. And he is a more unique player at his position. There is a reason why Garnett is fourth in PER while Pierce is 37th.

People seriously need to stop saying that Bull****, dude has basically 2 all stars surrounding him already. The only questions with that team is their health, bench depth, and experience.

Why do people keep listing LeBron ahead of Kobe?
1. LeBron sat 7 games with an injury to his pinky.
1. Kobe has a torn ligament to the pinky on his shooting hand, and he not only refuses surgery, he refuses to sit a single game.
2. LeBrons team wouldnt even be in the playoffs in the West.
2. Kobes team is 3rd in the West.

Right now rank the top 3 as:
1. Kobe - He's finally on a team that can win enough games for him to be an MVP while being the main driving force. He's done a great job of keeping the Lakers playing solid even though they have had an injury-riddled season.
2. Paul - No explanation needed. The Hornets are where they are because of him. It'll be interesting to see if the Hornets can stay injury free from here on out and continue to play at a high level.
3. LeBron - No one currently does more for their team with as little talent. If MVP didn't take records into account, he'd be #1.

And also, people talk about how Kobe has too much talent now. (With the addition of Gasol) But before Bynum was hurt, and before they added Gasol, the Lakers were #1 in the West. Think about that for a minute. The Lakers werent expected to even make the playoffs, and yet they were sitting atop the West before Gasol even showed up.

1-Chris Paul..I have no doubt about this one..#1 in the West..CAN ANYONE ACTUALLY TELL ME THAT THEY THOUGHT NEW ORLEANS WOULD BE 1ST IN AN IMPROVED WEST?! hell no..I predicted them to get 7th, and they've exceeded that..
Paul does have some talent on his team..everybody needs help to win..but from what I've seen of the Hornets, they run A LOT of pick and pops and screen plays..Paul seems to run the offense all of the time, and I would link West's all-star season directly to Paul..that's just from what I've seen though..obviously Hornets fans would have a more accurate opinion..
2-Lebron/Kobe..I don't think anybody will sneak into 2nd or 3rd ahead of Kobe or Lebron..so it just depends on how their teams look at the end of the season..
4-Steve Nash..Suns are still at the top, and Nash is the best player..easy pick..
5-Dwight Howard..
6-Kevin Garnett/Paul Pierce..Pierce has led them in KG's absence, just like I think KG would if Pierce wasn't in the lineup..
8-Tim Duncan..
9-Dirk Nowitzki
10-Chauncey Billups..
