New Stats You'd Like To See on The Statsheet

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I was thinking and I figured that some statistics that are never on boxscores could be useful. I bet a bunch of these will be on 82games.com already, but I'd say it would be neat to have statistics for Charges Taken, and Picks Set.

Another one would be Incomplete Assists...So say you make the perfect pass, but the guy misses the jumper, or the guy gets fouled, you won't get an assist, but instead you'll be rewarded with an "IA". This stat can only go for passes that result in a shot. It's useful because the passer gets some recognition for setting his teammates up, and not penalized because his team is just missing shots.

Thoughts?

# of charges taken should definitely be given.

I would also like to see the person who causes the steal to get credit for it. Many times a player just picks up a deflected ball and gets credit for the steal.

I'd like Hockey Assists.

A pass that leads to an assist. This would help out superstars like Kobe and Nash who break down the defense on dribble penetration.

It'll never happen, but I'd like them to throw away fg% and completely replace it with either eFG% or TS% (or both).

Why throw out FG%?

Definitly the hockey assists. Im sure this applies to a lot of players, but Kobe misses out on about 5-6 assists per game because of either easy misses by teammates, fouls, or the guy makes another pass that leads to an open dunk.

Agree with deflections--that was the first one that came to mind. Also agree with hockey assists and charges taken.

hockey assists should be counted as a seperate category thats not included with primary assists.

You cant just change stuff like this.

Think about it.

2 of 6 three pointers made = 6 points on 6 shots = 33.3 % FG

3 of 6 two pointers made = 6 points on 6 shots = 50 % FG

There is the flaw. Both examples have the same scoring efficiency, even though FG% would indicate otherwise.

Screens/picks successfully made leading to a made shot. Like an assist.

I think most people assumed that they'd be two separate stats, not combined into one...

So like a points per shot sorta thing? I like it.

Ive seen points per possesion somewhere before, maybe 82games, I wouldnt mind seeing that in the team stats.

I don't like the idea of hockey assists, or crediting assists even though a shot is missed or the shooter is fouled.

Any stat line with 10 assists turns from "Awesome stat line" to "Mediocre".
