Avery Wanted Dallas To Trade Dirk?
February 19, 2008 - 11:22 am
New York Post -
According to an 'infallible' source that spoke with Pete Vecsey, Avery Johnson was interested in Dallas trading Dirk Nowitzki following last year's playoffs.

Johnson didn't feel like Nowitzki provided the team adequate leadership on or off the court.

Johnson was of course overruled by management. [READ]

Vescey has to be related to Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune.

LA would've never done that, never.

As crazy as Kobe's demands were, they would've only had moved him for LeBron, Wade, Howard, etc,

I have a serious question, which writer do people think is the bigger liar- Peter Vescey or Sam Smith:

My vote goes to Vescey.

Not even close. If Sam Smith was getting info from Bulls board, he would have been really really good but it's totally opposite.

Sam always proposes one of the WORST trade that any Bulls fan can think of. He wants to trade whoever our best scorer is for peanuts.

Vescey and Smith are brothers who will come up with bogus info, except in different (major) cities.

Who got it from realgm. An e-mailer my ass.

Hello Sam, I know you are reading this.

By Sam saying "someone who has been accurate in the past" he is describing Tech9ne. Either Tech sent this to Sam as well, or Sam got this off of realgm, but he doesn't want to admit he uses an internet forum for ideas.

My vote goes to the latter. Sam hasn't broke any of Tech's other information.

he reads the bulls board and gets his trade ideas from there...

Considering when, how and where Avery played, how he is as a coach, I don't think Dirk is Avery's type of big man. Yes, Dirk's a star and a really good player, but I think if Avery could trade him for a more traditional big man star, he would. Especially since Dirk's not worked out as the #1 option (mainly has been the defense (going back to 02), some choking) and the required other high-level scorer hasn't been there with Dirk, to improve the former.
