Does KVH mean nobody will retire anymore?

Post#1 » by Storm Surge » Wed Feb 20, 2008 3:17 am

If I were a player thinking about retirement I would decide not to and just play a KVH. What benefit does retiring do? If you are not going to make the Hall why retire? You know how big of assets guys like KVH could be to teams trying to trade?

There is no reason to "officially" retire.

I bet the league will change that rule this off season or whenever the new CBA is made. Signing retired players to large contacts so they can be used as an expiring contract/trade filler is not at all what the league had in mind when they create that rule.

The 30-day Gary Paytn rule needs to be changed too. It needs to be a full season.

Exactly. I don't think the NBA will be filling any hole because as long as players aren't filling retirement papers, they aren't getting paid JACK from the NBA for retirement. Fill your papers, or don't, the NBA isn't changing any rules either way.
