Who will be the next Basketball player to grab 40 rebounds?

I don't know what the record is, but I'm pretty sure it is a lot higher than 40 and held by Bill Russell or Chamberlain. But 40 seems like a good feat for anyone in the NBA these days. I will have to go with Dwight Howard. I think there will be a playoff game sometime in his future where it will be a sloppy offensive game which will allow for a lot of rebounds to be grabbed.

Howard is the only one possible IMO. Tyrus Thomas and Bynum being my second.
It has to be a strong guy with either good speed or good length but also with weak rebounding teammates.
Didn't Biedrins have like 20+ against the Knicks?

Lawl at anyone getting 40, especially Bynum and Thomas.

Lol I think Pancho_Pantera came up with this thread because he knew that Dwight Howard would be the consensus pick, and wanted to hear people talk about him and his ability to rebound.

I said only one possible, if someone told me a player grabbed 40 rebounds yesterday I'd guess it was Dwight. Second guess Chandler, 3rd guess Bynum.

Don't think it will happen.... but it could if both teams played fast paced, took alot of shots- missed a lot of shots, and the game went into double overtime plus...
If I had to guess, It would be Dwight in a GS/PHO game, or perhaps even Amare in a freak long 5OT game with Phoenix. Chandler also...
It would really have to be the "perfect storm" for it to happen though... so I'd say, no one in the NBA right now will do it in their career.

I noticed Camby's name hasn't been mentioned, if such a thing was possible today which I doubt. I think Camby especially on the Nuggets would be the guy.

I know Dwight grabbed like 27, but that's still a far cry from 40.

Why are we talking about 40?
30 is more realistic, and for 30, I'm gonna go with an undercover player, Al Jefferson.

30 seems easily to reach. Not saying that it is, but this is the equivalent of 50 points in a game.

In this order:
Dwight Howard
Tyson Chandler
Al Jefferson
Greg Oden

The last 30+ rebound game was in 1996 so no it is nothing like 50 pts in a game which happens every season multiple times.

40 will never happen in this era. When Wilt did it 7 footers were rare. Not only was he bigger and taller than everyone else but he was a world class athlete.
