After the lakers game there was a long sit-down interview with Jerry West, and they picked his brain about many NBA topics, not all laker related. He was asked that if Stern stepped down, and he took over the position what would he do differently? He was reluctant to answer this question but eventually made a couple comments. He said one thing he disliked is the draft. He said he's perfectly fine with the 1st pick being done with the balls and a lottery system. But after that, it should be based on record. He doesn't care about trying to protect the integrity of the schedules late in the season by a team "tanking." Also he said he would like to see less teams, and more talent evenly distributed. Do you guys think the logo would make a good commissioner? To be honest the thought never crossed my mind until now. But I like it. I think he would be more Player/NBA Friendly, as opposed to being more of a businessman CEO like Stern. I think Stern focuses more on the globalization of the NBA Product, and it's squeeky clean image. Whereas the logo would make the NBA Product more competitive and personnel friendly. Any thoughts??

Yes! We already have Harvard and Yale lawyer boys taking care of marketing, business and image we need a commish who knows the games and will do what's best for the game.

No offence, but the Commisioner should be between 38 - 52 years of age. Someone who has experience in the game but not a person who would put their old school views in the way.

While I love the logo and all, him as commisioner at his age is not a good thing. Plus his "Laker for Life" quote is not a good thing either. Why not put Donald Sterling in charge of the NBA. It's the opposite but the results would be just about the same. Over priced games with few teams being ok and the rest completely bombing.

If anything Rod Thorn should be next.

Well Stern also said his dream matchup in the playoffs would be the Lakers versus the Lakers . Besides, West has too much integrity then to pull some shady business as commissioner. He is a purist. He can't be corrupted.

He's a great ambassador of the game and universally respected by the entire league. I think he'd make a great commissioner. Unfortunately, in the same interview he also said he's definitely done with the league. Kept making a reference to milk having an expiration date or whatever. He said he related to Bobby Knight. He said the league has changed and he's tired of the drama and stress. One thing about Jerry is he has never been a guy who sugarcoats things, so when he says he's done...he's done.

Jerry is the second best basketball official ever (after Red Auerbach), but he is too old and too Lakers-centric IMHO.

However, I would like to see the Wolves reseeded into the East, so that the future 10 NBA Finals are Lakers-Wolves

I think a former player like Jerry West would be a bad idea, maybe a journey man that knows the game inside in out like Malik Rose (just an example not a suggestion) would be good for the game. Im sure if West took Sterns job im sure it would be sure that he wouldnt do anything bias towards the lakers because of the amount of people under him that would be helping him make decisions but as been said the guy is too old to really start something new. He would be around for 5 or 8 years and then be done and thats not what a Cmmish does.

Lakers don't need anymore help.

West proved himself not only as a Top-10 player ever, but also as a very good coach (with tenure including 145-101 record and Lakers reaching the WCF) and Top-2 GM in history. If anyone from basketball side of things could succeed as NBA boss, it would be the Logo. However, a) as it's already been mentioned, Jerry's too old to start so demanding job now; b) the NBA would rather have someone from business side of things - like Stern - anyway.

I'd rather see Magic as the commisioner.

No I would not trust him with the integrity of the league. Alot of you will laugh at me, but that's perhaps the biggest joke of a trade in NBA history when you consider the parts involved and the player going to the team he loves.

The NBA's next commissioner needs to be young, yet appreciates the history of the league and not pussify the rules to further benefit guards and kill big men.
