he ratings for the All-Star Saturday Night were the highest in 23 years. Kobe and the Lakers are back to being relevant. The young studs (Paul, Lebron, Dwight ETC) are blossoming and getting better every year.

The ratings have gotten better and the league gets major coverage in the media now. Are we seen the rebirth of the NBA?

Only if the East was more competitive.

Seriously with all these great players coming out to the West .. are we gonna have to see above 50 win teams every year in the West just to get into the playoffs while below 500. teams get in easily in the east ?

i think we are entering a golden age, the west maybe better than the east, but there are some great stars in the east and some potential there

It's certianly the golden era for trades.

Lets wait for a few months and see if someone marketable [Shaq,Kobe,Lebron] wins the title or if we get another boring sweep of an NBA finals [Duncan]

Also how can you call it a Golden Era when the best team in the West only averages 12,000 fans a game?

Lakers/Boston finals would solidify this Era as Golden.

im sure there will be an era coming soon but due to overexpansion the league will take much longer to go through one as previously..

I hope by overexpansion hurting the league you mean it's not as fun tow watch because you know less about the players rather than that there is a dilution of talent cuz I keep hunting that myth down.

Stern is working on it. Be patient.

LA PHNX WCF would be unreal I think. The team's fans hate one another already, and then you got the player drama in Shaq/Kobe.

I don't know about era though, perhaps a great year. Era's are defined by consistent teams beign on top. There was a mini rivalry between LA and SA brewing but Shaq was kicked out of LA.

And basically how can anyone feel anything about Duncan? He's not a charasmatic kind of kind to brew something like a rivalry and basically right now is the only one kicking ass. No competition, certianly not in the East of all places.

so there isnt a dilution of talent?? wonder what fans of teams like the Bulls and 76ers think abput that. this league would be MUCH better if there were about 4 less teams
