HOUSTON -- Minnesota Timberwolves guard Gerald Green tells FOX 26 Sports he has been traded to his hometown Houston Rockets for guard Kirk Snyder and a second-round draft pick.
Green, in his third year in the NBA, went to Gulf Shores Academy High School in Houston. He was drafted in the first round out of high school by the Boston Celtics.
"It's like a dream come true. Never in my life did I think this would happen," Green said. "I am on cloud nine."
Green was traded by Boston to Minnesota in that blockbuster deal involving Kevin Garnett.
He won the Slam Dunk Title in 2007 and was runner-up in 2008.

This is alright for Wolves they get rid of a unhappy player and get another pick.

I like this deal, they get a good young guy who can learn a lot from T Mac. He resemble T Mac a lot IMO.
I liek this for Houston but hated the Bonzi trade.

Man, I find it hard to believe Green's value has dropped to that of a 2nd round pick.
Still, more than Qyntel Woods will fetch these days.

Green isn't anything like T-Mac but Houston could certainly use an athlete like him in transition and in the half-court, he's a good set shooter.
And they gave up a 2nd-rounder and Kirk Snyder to get him? That's a pretty sweet deal, since Green is still young and has lots of upside, even if he is as dumb as a brick.

Well, I don't see Kirk Snyder getting his oppurtunity with the Wolves. Probably just an expiring contract. I hope this guy can find a decent spot and consistent oppurtunity next season. As I've liked his talent quite a bit since that draft. Injuries and other guys in front of have hindered him, except for some time in New Orleans where he had a good, long-ish stretch. Attitude issues, however much, from what I know haven't been there in a couple years (Jazz and Hornets, supposedly).
Houston has their Gay-re-load, of sorts, in Green. Surprised that was all that was given up for Green, expected some more, but Green hasn't shown too much. All potential and athleticism so far, basically.

Yeah, except for the strength, rebounding, post game, defense and shot creation...

Green is an 8th man, there's a reason his stock is that low and he couldn't get minutes on crappy Boston OR crappy Minnesota. He's not a smart player. He's entirely a run-and-jump athlete who has a good shot.

Perhaps the And1 reject will finally get it. But I have my doubts..
I still predict he'll be out of the league in another five years

LOL great minds I guess. I said the exact same thing on the Rockets board. The guy has potential. If he gets there he'll be great for us. If he doesn't then its not a big deal. We just wanted to find a place where Synder would play. That was the goal and I don't think Morey would have done the deal if the T-Wolves didn't have a spot for him in their rotation.

Snyder and pick doesn't work for Gerald Green. I think something else has to be given. The trade is not officially reported, so we will see all that is offered in it when the report comes out.

Just to put things into perspective, both Gerald and Rudy were producing at a nearly identical rate last year at a PER just over 12. Which brings up that Gerald did find time in Boston; 20 mpg in his 2nd year out of high school was ahead of schedule, and the same amount of time Rudy was finding with the Grizzlies. I'm pretty sure Rudy wouldn't have done a whole lot this year if he were benched by the Grizzlies, and realize that Gerald's situation was largely financial (Wolves declined his option right away, meaning he was never a part of their future, giving them no incentive to play him). Rudy was handed the keys to the car this year and has played exceptionally. When Gerald was in a similar situation towards the end of last year he was playing quite well himself, who knows how he would have performed this year if given the same chance Rudy was?
That's not to say Gerald is on Rudy's level of course, but simply that Gerald hasn't been given a real opportunity this year. People shouldn't be a whole lot lower on Gerald right now than they were at the end of last season, because there was close to nothing he could do to avoid his current situation. He can shoot the 3 ball, come off screens and hit the midrange jumper, as well as finish in transition. He's done a very good job on the glass this year, has done a decent job man to man (team defense is still a mess), and most of his turnovers seem to be from him forcing the dribble (something a clear, defined role in Houston should fix). If he's utilized right he can do the same things JR Smith did in Denver last year before AI arrived (and is still doing, but isn't being given the time to display his abilities quite as much). Is he going to be the star people once touted him as? It certainly doesn't appear that way, but there's no reason to say he can't become a quality scorer in this league.
