Hottest team in the NBA right now Rockets or Lakers?

Post#1 » by dWadeOwnzYou » Mon Feb 25, 2008 4:59 am

Lakers won 8 straight, Rockets won 12 straight.

I think its the Lakers. Even though they don't own the longest streak they had to play the tougher scedule and they don't just beat their opponent but they destroy them by half time.

LA hasn't exactly had a difficult schedule over the winning streak...

Orlando
Miami
Charlotte
Minnesota
Atlanta
Phoenix
Clippers
Seattle

Most of those are terrible teams. Only 2 teams I would consider decent, and who knows what's going on with Phoenix.

Wow, why do people have the nerve to come up with these threads? You know that the homers are going to go for their teams and others will have their seperate decisions, but also you are going to cause nothing but trouble with this thread.

To be fair, the margin of victory isnt that far off.

Over the past 10 games, Lakers have an average margin of victory of 12.50.

Over the same time span, Houston's margin of victory is 10.50.

Thats just one FG difference.

I would go with Houston to answer your question.

Let's take a look at the Rockets last 12 games

CHI 110-97 W
@NOH 100-80 W
MIA 112-100 W
@CLE 93-85 W
SAC 89-87 W
POR 95-83 W
ATL 108-89 W
CLE 92-77 W
@MIN 92-86 W
@MIL 91-83 W
@IND 106-103 W
GSW 111-107 W

PPG: 99.9
OPPG: 89.75

The Rockets are beating their opponents by 10.15 points

Home Games: 7
Away Games: 5

Now let's take a look at the Lakers last 12 games

@SEA 111-91 W
@LAC 113-95 W
@PHX 130-124 W
ATL 122-93 W
@MIN 117-92 W
@CHA 106-97 W
@MIA 104-94 W
@ORL 117-113 W
@ATL 95-98 L
@NJN 105-90 W
@WSH 103-91 W
@TOR 121-101 W

PPG: 112.0
OPG: 98.25

They are beating their opponents by 13.75 points

Home: 1
Away: 11

The one in bold are playoff teams for both EAST and WEST. The Lakers are owning their opponents by 13.75 points. They also played 11 away games compared to the Rockets 5 away games. They also had a harder schedule than the Rockets.

I'd say both teams are hot, but the Lakers are hotter.

I'm giving it to the Rockets. Only because this is probably going to be our one thing to be excited about this year before we get stomped in the playoffs. Lakers have bigger ambitions. I'd rather be in their position despite the winning streak -- best team in the league.

We'll find out March 16 when the two teams play each other. I doubt both would keep their streak alive till then.

You forgot to mention that the Lakers have recently finished with one of the best road records (for 9 consecutive games) in the history of the NBA. They are 11-1 this month, and 11 of the 12 games have been on the road.

Anyway, regarding weak schedules...

semi-sentient wrote:The Rockets opponents during this 12 game streak have a combined 296-363 (.449) record, and most of them have been home games. Wins at NO and Cleveland were impressive, but that's about it.
