Well, PJ can still play to an extent, and they needed another big man. A guy with more size, and most importantly more experience. Also, aside from KG and Scalibrine, his jumpshot is an upgrade on the rest of their big men.
Pretty decent addition to the bench. Just get tougher.
Don't quite think he'll get his ring, though

Great move. Veteran presence. Gives us more size and depth. Now just bring on Sam I Am.

I'm gonna laugh if all these vets who are jumping on the Boston bandwagon to get a ring don't actually get a ring. They're gonna look really stupid if one of the Western perennial powerhouses win it like San Antonio.

a lot of ring chasers look stupid every year...a team full of them would be no different than a few of them here and there...it's hard to win it all...if Cassell winds up there (which i am doubting right now), they will be a playoff experienced team...

He doesn't have much left. His best quality will be his man to man post defense, which he is still really good at. He is however, very slow, like molasses. He really shouldn't play any 4, just 5 because of this. He cannot guard perimeter players (Jamison, Bosh, etc) because he can't close out fast enough to challenge the shot, or they'll just drive right past him. His still a serviceable rebounder. On offense he'll give you the jumper from the elbow, not much else. That will be erratic because it has no arc, it looks like a line drive heading toward the rim. There isn't much more to say about PJ, the C's wont use him excessively like the Bulls did last year, just when he's needed, and in that case, it is a decent pick up.

Remembering him with the Bulls last season - I think this is accurate.

Well I'm one of the Boston posters so far who isn't thrilled about the move, but I would actually prefer he be more effective at the five as tht is a bigger need than at the 4.

not anything major, but good nonetheless..better than Scalabrine..just a backup big man for the C's, so not much is expected..

Can't hurt the Celtic's chances.
A backup Center who's better than Pollard, will help since Perkins has been oft-injured and inconsistent.

another blow for the hornets
seemed like the perfect fit, but now he's going away from his family when he could have stayed with them and joined a contender that probably needs him more

Well his competition for bench bigs will be
2 6'6" players in Big Baby and Powe who because of there hieght should be more effective at the PF postion.
And once in every 41 nights Pollard is not injured to play... so effectively no competition at the Center spot.
This isn't an earth shattering move it just allows the Celts to have a big player at back-up Center, and makes sure we don't have to play Posey at PF due to lack of big men depth.
If he can catch the ball and lay it up... AND also have a mid range jumper... he's officially the most offensively talented big on the Celts roster behind KG.
