Did KG start the newest trend in the NBA?

We've all seen it. The ref blows a whistle. A player decides to take an after shot. An opposing big goal tends the shot. Did KG start this trend? I haven't seen anyone do it before him, but I'm not 100% sure. If he did start it how big will this trend become I've started seeing some of the NBA's biggest stars begin to do it.

yes, exactly. Except the shooter doesn't usually fool the blocker like that.

I first remember seeing KG doing that 5-6 years ago, and it seems like ever since Nowitzki has been doing it too.

I remember Ricky Davis doing it all the time when he was with the Celtics.

This has been happening for a long time.. I dont know who started it but I remember seeing Sheed doing it when he was with the Blazers around 99....
It frustrates shooters because, a lot of times, they take shots after the whistle to see if they are "feeling it"... If you goal tend the shot then they never know if they would have made it or if theyre hot atm

It's pretty (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to do with the continuation rule though, because if a player is fouled and throws up a shot.... or a player away from the ball is fouled and the guy with the ball just throws it up, they could realistically call it goaltending and count the basket....although someone like KG would never actually be called for that.

That was pretty amazing.
But people having been goal tending after the whistle for as long as I can remember. Definitely nothing new.

I find that really annoying, seems like showing the guy up, maybe it's just me, but I'd have no problem if they automatically counted the shot, even if it was wayyyy after the foul.

Garnett seems to do it more on the road, and I see the home players get pissed off at times.

I love the comment that was like 'oh man, did you guys see AI's second shot, it went in!, replied by 'what the hell did you think the video was about?'
