Caron Butler out indefinitely - torn labrum in left hip

Post#1 » by miller31time » Thu Feb 28, 2008 5:19 am

CHICAGO, Feb. 27 -- Washington Wizards all-star forward Caron Butler has a partial tear of a labrum in his left hip, the team announced Wednesday. It is not known how long the injury will keep him out of the lineup. The team said he will be reevaluated next week.

Butler, who has missed the past 10 games and 14 games overall this season, originally suffered what was diagnosed as a strained left hip flexor during an overtime loss to Milwaukee on Jan. 27. He sat out three games, then returned for the Feb. 3 game against the Lakers. He aggravated the injury two days later during a loss in Philadelphia and has not played since.

Before his injury, Butler was having a career season. He is averaging 21.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game, good enough to earn him a second consecutive berth in the All-Star Game.

We already have a thread on this on the Wizards Board, but I was wondering if we had any people who have knowledge on this, and can give us an approximate time of recovery.

He won't be able to come back before the playoffs IMO. I don't know anything about that type of injury, but it looks likes one that will take 1+ month(s) to heal. Good luck.

Oh man!

CB's one of my favorite players in the league, and he was putting together one hell of a season, and now this.

Just like a few seasons ago, it was injury after injury. I hope this season is nothing like that other one.....

we rocket fans know exactly the pain you fans are feeling (wizards)

it really sucks to have 2 major injuries to star players just 7 weeks before the playoffs.

last year it was arenas for you guys and now it's butler

must be awful living with the pain

Chin up... if rockets taught yall anything last game it's that you can use this as a pressure release and as motivation to prove everyone that marked yall off wrong.

That's really sad, he was doing so well, I guess you can only push your body so hard.

I was thinking the Bullets could make a strong push once Zero got back, but without Caron, doubtful they're gonna shock anybody come playoffs.

Just awful. Another serious injury, and a worse injury from an existing injury.

He was having a great season, and improved his 3PT shot.

Its just one of those years for Wiz. Its pretty impressive though how they've been somewhat able to be successful.

And how good is that 3 seed looking this year in the East? If your a top 3 team in the East your pretty much looking at a cakewalk in the first round. ORL/TOR/CLE is going to fun to watch down the stretch.
