Franchise players are basically players who the team builds around and advertises like crazy. There are only a hand full of them in the league. Not in any real order.

Thats it really. Wash has three players, who after season, I can't really put any over the other and the rest of the teams don't really have anyone who is a true franchise player/

Yao is underrated.

Pretty good list, except Nash is 2nd tier, and I cannot believe Yao is not on that list and on the first tier.

Dwight Howard is also a true franchise player, really weird that you left both those players off the list.

I'm sure you will get a lot of crap for stating the truth that Dirk isn't a franchise player, and neither is Wade.

IMO opinion franchise player is tossed around far too often, and there really are only a couple franchise players.

these are the only players who by themselves could lead a team to the playoffs, everyone else needs a decent supporting cast.

How is Dirk not a franchise player? What makes the likes of Kidd, Melo, Garnett and Iverson franchise players and Dirk 2nd tier?

No Baron on at least a 2nd tier list? No Yao Ming? I remember when Baron was carrying the hornets to playoffs with no help except David Wesley and that's not sayin much at all.

haha. Dirk has to be the most hated player on this board. People just don't like him for non-basketball reasons, but still have to undervalue him as a basketball player.

Maybe he should wear cornrows, rape a woman and fire guns, so he can get respected here.

Chris Paul hasn't even been in the playoffs but people already consider him more of a franchise player than someone who won MVP, was an All NBA 1st teamer, an NBA finalist and carried his team to the silver medal at the WC 2002 and EC 2004.

I know, you americans love your athletes, but Dirk is probably more of a franchise player right now than Paul ever will be.

What these guys have in common is that they either have one move or one facet of their game that is unstoppable.

Dirk's jumpshot, Duncan's post game, Kobe's fadeaway, Lebron's finishing abilty, Steve Nash's pick and roll game, Yao's fadeaway.

Within the next two years, Monta Ellis will be the franchise player of the Warriors, not Baron Davis.

Albeit a second tier one at best. Undersized scoring guard don't make successfull franchise player (And there won't be one to match Iverson Finals appearance EVER)

Dirk is a Superstar son.

No Yao or tmac on your list? wow your list is wack. And dirk isn't 2nd tier!
