i think KG and Duncan are great defense players but at the same time overrated but not by much. its either Camby,Smith, KG, or Duncan.

follow these steps:

1) in the address bar type in www.realgm.com

2) look for the word "forum'' and click on it.

3) then scroll down to where it says "Atlanta Hawks''

when you do that there should be alot of topics talking about the Hawks

4) scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click where it says "New Topic".

if you want to comment on some other threads the click on the post and click "Poat Reply"

hope i helped

He's a strong contender for my choice for the award. Currently have him second to Camby.

wtf is POAT?

I think D12 is in the talks for DPOY as well.

When you factor in man-to-man defense and defensive intelligence Smith instantly drops out of the race for DPOY. Man can Josh block shots though...

Duncan is the best defender on what is perennially the best defensive team in the league. The Celtics are giving up an insane 10 fewer points per game with KG this year, and he has made everyone around him play defense as well. I'd give it to KG because of the influence he has had on guys like Ray Allen, and because I'm a Celtics fan, but I could see it going to Duncan.

Not saying he necessarily deserves it per se, but Shane Battier should be in the discussion. Houston is the second best defensive team in the league, and he is a big part of that.

With that said, I hope Duncan wins it. He has been robbed too many times.

It has become fairly obvious that you don't watch Josh Smith.

Smith definitely has the highest defensive +/- out of all the candidates, however some of the credit for that has to go to our GM Billy Knight for not acquiring any legitimate backups and some of it has to go to our coach Mike Woodson for not playing the only other shotblocker on the team and some of it has to go to the rest of the players for relying on Smith's ability to protect the paint and switch out on the pick and roll.

I think KG should win it this season but Smith should be a second teamer at the PF spot.

Camby has been pretty remarkable too this season.

How is his team being young relevant to anything regarding DPOY?

Anyways, I don't mean to sound like a homer, but Battier should be somewhere in the discussion. By no means should he win it, but it seems that he's very underrated, and I hate to see such a hard worker get such little recognition. I know he was 5th in the DPOY voting last year, but has he ever been named to an All-NBA Defensive team? I can't find the stats, and I have a hunch that he hasn't.

As for the thread, no I don't think Josh Smith should be DPOY. As previously stated, the award should either go to KG or Duncan. KG has turned Boston into a great defensive team (Tom Thibodeaux also deserves a sh*t ton of credit for this), and Duncan...well, he's Tim Duncan. The best defensive player on one of the top defensive teams of the millenium, what else needs to be said?
