Player heights... which ones exaggerate?

Post#1 » by YouAreBeneathMe » Wed Mar 5, 2008 4:25 pm

I know most of them do, but a few list right at their barefoot height, like Mike Bibby, Kevin Garnett (who admits he's 6'11" although some say he's taller) and Tony Parker.

If you've met a player, what do you think, does he embellish his listed height?

Tim Duncan is 7'0". I thought Garnett was, too.
Jason Maxiell is 6'5". Ben Wallace is 6'7".
Amir Johnson grew an inch or two but is still listed as 6'9".

nearly half of the league has guys who are not their listed heights...

one guy who is funny about it is Jameer Nelson who swears he's 6'0" or 6'1" but he's really about 5"10"ish

most guys in general do that, i used to swear by 6'0" for a while but then came to terms with the fact that i was only 5'10.5

The imperial system sucks.

Metric system for the win.

And Duncan is not 7 feet tall.

the height discrepancies are not the fault of the metric or imperial system, they are the fault of high schools, colleges and agents mislabeling their product...

Duncan is no 7' either...if he is, I'm 7'1"

I have met several NBA players. Dirk looks 7'1 in person, Bron 6'8 1/2 same for Melo, 5'11 for AI, 6'2 1/2 for Wade, 6'7 for Caron Butler, 6'4 for Ray Allen, Duncan 6'10 1/2 , Blatche true 7 footer, and Damon Jones a real 6'2. Image

no way dirk is 7'1 he measured 6'10 at predraft camp, best case scenario he grew an inch... ai is 5'11.25 barefoot, butler is 6'5.5" barefoot, carmelo is a couple inches shorter than lebron, and duncan is 6'10-6'10.5

I said Dirk looked 7'1 in person not that he was, I never had time to roll out the measuring tape. He is a real 7 footer, you really think he couldn't grow 2 inches over all these years? Also Melo is not a couple inches shorter than Lebron they both are at least 6'8.

Odom is taller than Duncan, that is what I can say for sure.

I think Odom was always listed at 2,08 m (6-10), so he can still be considered a tall perimeter player.

Aaron Brooks from the rox is supposed to be 6'0 but he's really about 5'9-5'10... A.I. is 6' in shoes so he's really close to about 5'10 w/o... chuck hayes is listed at 6'7 but he's only about 6'5 - 6'5 1/2 at the most

FIBA even on their 2007 update listed Tony Parker as 6-0 barefoot and 6-1 1/4 in shoes.

How does him being listed at 6-2 by the NBA make him listed barefoot?

The NBA should take weights at the beginning of every season. Kevin Garnett is still listed at 220 pounds by NBA.com

There's probably something in the Collective Bargaining Agreement called something like "The Shaq Snack Rule" which bars this from happening.

Nate is nowhere near as tall as he is listed, Nate was up to my shoulder, and I'm not 6 feet tall. Nate is more like 5'5 or 5'6. The league goes out of its way though to protect Bogues as the shortest man ever.

I've met many players, and the one I remember being a lot shorter than listed was Iverson. He's nowhere near 6 feet, maybe 5-10.
