Should the NBA logo ever be changed?

Like all things, the NBA logo is due for change at some point.
Not to disrespect Jerry West, but hes been the logo for such a long time. There are more worthy candidates. I don't think it will ever happen as long as Jerry is alive, unless he give his blessing, but I think at some point some radical modernist league commissioner will redo the logo.
MJ anyone?
I've seen a couple people with MJ NBA logo, with his "Air" silhouette and the red and blue blackground.
I don't really know what the trademark or copyright laws are with Jordan's silhouette, but I think the NBA can afford to pay for something like that. Plus, I'm sure whomever would get payed could probably benefit from having it as the NBA logo.
Thoughts?

Since comments like the one below this initial post are going to arise, then imagine it with your own favorite player, i.e. Lebron or Kobe, heck Nash, Shaq, Wilt, whoever. Don't be immature like this guy \/

Both ImmortalD24 and tmac4real were either too young to watch Jordan, or are simply Kobe homers.
The guy isn't even done with his career and you guys are comparing him to what 99% of NBA fans and media call is the greatest player alive. (those who haven't seen MJ play during his time DO NOT COUNT)
If you wanna argue about that start a Kobe vs. MJ thread, and see how IBTL posts you get.

I heard SA Smith sayin he wanted changed to Jordan, but I think the logo should stay the same as great as he was.

The problem with the Jordan image is it's commercial association with Nike. Can't make such a corporate logo the NBA logo.
Nothing wrong with the current logo. In fact I think it's pretty good.

Doesn't have to be a Jordon logo taking over West's logo, could be anybody.
I think at some point its due for change, whether its Jordan or not, I think it will happen.
Maybe at some point having West as the logo will be so pure to the game that it will stay, but even then things can change.
I mean could you sell the logo rights to the NBA (a cheap shot at Sam Zell)

With the new image the NBA has I think the league should change the logo to a thug wearing corn rows and tatted up from head to toe smoking some weed instead of dribbling.
Please God leave the logo alone.

It is completely fine the way it is. Actually, fine is an understatement... I like it a lot and don't wish for it to change. Ever.

i think the NBA logo is already pretty much universely recognised, and it is a world-wide brand. it would be stupid to change it for many reasons

I personally want it replaced with Sam Cassel pointing a finger at the sky.

Yeah, I'd rather it not change. West is one of the best basketball players in the history of the NBA, and it's partly a form of respect and admiration to the older generation of players.

True, but I won't be THAT angry if Logo is replaced by a silhouette of Bill Russell jumping for a block or so.
