Analysis of Houston 17 wins streak - nothing special!

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Fri Mar 7, 2008 12:28 pm

Ok, Houston won 17 games, all respect to that run, but on the other hand looking the oponents we realize it is not such a special thing:

9 (6 at home) games against EASTERN teams:

Fri 01 @ Indiana W 106-103
Sat 02 @ Milwaukee W 91-83
Thu 07 vs Cleveland W 92-77
Sat 09 vs Atlanta W 108-89
Tue 19 @ Cleveland W 93-85
Thu 21 vs Miami W 112-100
Sun 24 vs Chicago W 110-97
Tue 26 vs Washington W 94-69
Wed 05 vs Indiana W 117-99

4 (3 at home) games against non playoff WESTERN teams:

Mon 04 @ Minnesota W 92-86
Mon 11 vs Portland W 95-83
Wed 13 vs Sacramento W 89-87
Fri 29 vs Memphis W 116-95

4 (2 at home) games against playoff WESTERN teams:

Tue 29 vs Golden State W 111-107
Fri 22 @ New Orleans W 100-80
Sun 02 vs Denver W 103-89
Thu 06 @ Dallas W 113-98

So we have 17 games, but only 2 really hard ones on the road Vs. Cleveland and New orleans. I dont count Dalas, becouse Nowitzky didnt play. Also home games against GSW and DEN are easy winable, if you play smart.

On the end, no disrespect to Houston, but surely the schedule was in their favor.

You forgot to mention the back to backs..theres nothing harder to do than win back to backs on the road, no matter the opponent.

Houston is playing great ball, they are a very scary team. Original poster has no clue how hard this is to accomplish, doesnt matter who you are playing.

Dallas doesn't count as a quality win because they were without Dirk, but the Rockets are without Yao........

The Spurs have won 11 straight games. Two of those games are what I would call good wins. Dallas and NO both in SA. You don't go on long win streaks if you face good teams night after night. You beat the teams that you are better than. You win your home games and your sprinkle in a few good wins. We have done all of that.

The OP clearly has no clue of how focused a team has to be to never slip up in the span of 17 games.

Do this analysis on other 17 game win streaks and get back to us. 17 in a row is impressive even if it's the best team in the NBA beating the worst team over and over again. Teams in the NBA are talented.

OP, if you haven't realized, The Rockets play in the NBA.... There is no such thing as a easy win no matter how sucky the team is.... The worst team in the nba can beat the best team in the nba any given night.... For the Rockets to go 17-0 that means they have not slipped up ONCE for over a month in the best basketball league in the world.

Beside the 17 games winning streak, Rockets also has 11 road games winning streak, 11 home games winning streak, 6 back-to-back games sweep and an impressive 8 consecutive games winning by double digits (including wins over Hornets and Mavs). All streaks are still alive.

The record for consecutive games winning by 10 pts or more is 10 games.

It's not only 17 in a row... Rockets won also 21 (one with spurs!) of last 22 games. It excatly started when McGrady come back after missing 11 games.

8 Blowouts in a row , we beat NO by 20 on a 2nd night of a back 2 back , we beat Dallas in a very important game for them on a 2nd night of a back 2 back.
We beat Denver at home by a blowout in a very important game for them.
We beat GS without T-Mac only Yao.
You are just a jealous hater!
