Oscar vs Wilt?
I'll take the 45.

You could get the 45, not have your teammates involved, shoot a horrible percentage, and be on a perrenial loser. I'll take the triple double, because it'll always be remembered, and theres a higher chance that your play is having a greatly positive effect. High rebound and assist numbers don't lie like ppg can.

I would rather average a triple double but 45 ppg is more impressive.

45 easily. As long as the player shoots above 45%. Trip Doubs are nice, but overated.

45PPG is definitely more impressive. Only 1 person EVER has done that or even come close. And that player would not be able to do that in today's game. If Jason Kidd grabbed 2 more rebounds, I don't see him in Wilt's amazing status or even in a top 10 player today. Many players have came close to a triple double season.

There is way to much unknown criteria. What form of a triple double are we talking, and by how much? Personally, I'd take the 10 assists, 10 steal, 10 block guy over the 45 point guy. However, I'd probably take the 45 points (on 60% shooting) guy over a 10pts, 10rbs, 10ast guy.

10pts, 10rbs, 10ast is so overrated it's not even funny. It requires someone to hold on to the ball on EVERY possession.
I would take someone who averages 45 points a game on ONE (1%) shooting over a 10pt, 10rb, 10ast guy.

I know you're exaggerating, but do you realize how assinine this sentence is? 45 points on 1% shooting is like going 20/2000 from the field.

I'd say triple double. It's much harder to do.

how is it harder? Magic had a few seasons that he came close. Oscar got it in '62, but he had several other seasons when he was REAL close. Grant Hill, Fat Lever, Jason Kidd, Wilt, and Larry Bird were relatively close to a TD season, they just need an extra bound or 1 or 2 more assists. And if blocks counted in the past, Wilt and Russell probably would have gotten alot of TD seasons.
Only Wilt has even done 45PPG and he's the only one that ever came close.

Yeah, I'd take 45 points over a 10 points, assists and boards. If it was 15, 15 and 15, then that's nuts.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Give me the triple-double.
