If Greg Oden was in this years draft...

Post#1 » by farzi » Sat Mar 8, 2008 4:14 am

If Oden was available in this years draft, coming off of injury and everything, would he still be the number one overall pick?

he would have went first, and he probably would have been better. But the question to you is, is this after 2 years in college or saying this was his first season? After 2 season he probably would be even better then he is now from playing a full season with both hands instead of one like last year.

You just can't teach size, add to the top of that Oden's size and athleticism. There's no way you could pass him up, if your a GM

Why do people keep putting Rose as an elite prospect?...As a prospect hes not with Durant/Oden last season, or on Beasleys level.

Ive seen him play all season, i think hes with the Bayless/Mayo/Gordon group.

I know you're trolling for a response (which is admiral because I do it in Laker threads), but there was already a Bynum v Oden comparison thread which Oden won with over 60% of the vote. Just wait til he can play and confirm that.

Rose is not up there with Oden or Beasley. I would probably take Mayo over him if I needed a scorer. Hell Rose can't even make free throws but he still be a top 5 pick.

With that said I would take Oden no question.

Hmmm, after sitting out his entire sophomore year of college? I have trouble saying unequivocally he'd still be #1. The only really comparison is Kenyon Martin, but he was injured in the CUSA conference tournament.

Kmart wasn't as physically gifted as Oden was before both injuries though. Oden actually had a faster 40 time than Durant at the pre draft workouts iirc

Well, the Kmart comparison is helpful if you're saying Oden would still go #1; because Kmart still went #1 despite suffering a major injury in his conference tournament. However, Kmart was #1 in a horrible draft class...

Would you consider this years or last years draft classes stronger?

I'm really looking forward to that matchup in a few years as both enter their primes
