Executive of the Year: Ainge or Kupchak?

Well, most of you might think it's a close race, but I say it's definitely not. Ainge has done much more work. Kupchak of course got Gasol and made them a championship contender. But the Celtics improved by a lot more than the Lakers and is on the verge of recording the best single-season turnaround in NBA history.
I think Executive of the Year is another term for "Most Improved Team".
What do you think?

I'd give it to Ainge too. He made a big time gamble and it paid off. The key was to trade for Ray Allen, which was enough to lure KG. He then did a nice job of finding some quality role-playing vets for cheap.
Kupchak engineering a truly lopsided trade; but frankly, I think it was a result of the ineptitude of Memphis' management more so than any brilliance on Kupchak's part.

Kupchak. Ainge will win it but I'd take Kupchak considering what he had to deal with in the offseason/beginning of the year.

Ainge had to deal with way more in the off-season. He first had to trade for Allen to get Garnett in. And Kupchak? Made profit of Memphis' firesale.

Either Ainge or Co-Execs of the year imo. No way Kupchak gets it over Ainge.

point well taken, but lets not hold that against him...., Memphis wanted expiring contracts and they got there wish granted end of the story.
I'd give it to Ainge too.

Plz no co-execs of the year, Ainge deserves the award.
Kupchak deserves RECOGNITION, but not consideration......

With the way lottery went Ainge could have just easily thrown in the towel and traded away Pierce for some young players. But he kept on working and completely turned the team around. A brilliant managing job from him.
Kupchak obviously made a great trade but this is not even close. Lakers were a good team before the Gasol trade, Ainge turned the second worst team into the best in the NBA with two huge trades and by signing some good free agents...

Jerry West quit working for Memphis last year and does not work for Lakers this year.
also need to consider the impact that the Gasol trade had on the rest of the league with all the trades that happen after, the reluctance to give up Bynum for Garnett, or G O'neal, or Kidd.
but I still give it to Celtics gm.

Jerry West is still a consultant for the Grizzlies and has a lot of sway in that organization. It is curious that LA was the only team Memphis talked to about a Gasol trade at the deadline and that LA did not have to take back Cardinal when a Mike Miller deal hinged on it. Seems a pretty hard pill to swallow that West did not facilitate this for LA.

^Why not give the award to owners other than Buss for being cheap arses which made this deal possible.
