The Miami Heat announced today that they have requested waivers on guard Smush Parker. Parker, who was signed as a free agent by the Heat on July 27, 2007, appeared in nine games for Miami this season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 20.3 minutes per game.
The Heat roster currently stands at 14 players. [READ]
So, will anyone sign him?

Riley hates him. He's been suspended from the team since the first month of the season.

Some teams might look at him as a cheap investment PG, but hes not getting a deal until next season.
It will probably be some team that goes through a "tear down" like Minnesota did this season. So Indiana, possibly the Knicks, Kings might do it because they got lucky with Udrih (not because of a tear down)...
Or maybe Phil Jackson thinks highly enough of Phil Jackson that he feels that Phil Jackson can fix Smush Parker.

He was a detriment to the team.
But, he was a failure (or one waiting to happen) the moment he signed with us and reported to camp. He came into camp, out of shape and overweight, according to Riley's conditioning requirements, that basically the entire league knows.....
Then, after going w/o playing to begin the season, he finally got PT, and was a blackhole on offense and defense. There would be times we'd put Williams on the bench, and bring Smush for a few mins, and our lead of 4-5 pts, would become a deficit of 10 two mins or so into Smush getting in. lol
Then came his issues with the parking lot attendant, but that's another story altogether.
Just glad he's gone, now Miami can start to audition some d-leaguers given their extra roster spot.

He does have the talent to be a solid back up, but he doesn't work hard, or at all, and he complains like crazy.
He's a distraction. Im surprised it took the heat so long.

That's grimey of Riley to wait this long when he knew he had no intention of keeping him. Riley should of given him a chance to latch onto a team and by waiting this time he screwed Smush over.
Bad move Riley.

WTF?
They've been working on this for a long time. The hold up was just as much Smush's as it was Riley's. They had to come to an agreeable number. If Smush wanted out so bad, he could have accepted Riley's initial buyout offer, rather than dickering around about the money...

I hope people take from this an important lesson: Kobe played with some real b!tchasses them past 3 seasons.

I hear Boston Celtics need a decent PG and are planning to sign him to have a Cassel/Smush tandem.
