I really appreciate that a guy who makes millions can actually sit down and write a blog. I think he's complaining cause when people make an argument of best PGs they name Nash, Paul, Williams, Davis, Billups, Parker, etc.., but not Arenas, because he simply doesn't remind us of a PG. I'd say he's a SG who can run the ball up the court, much like Kobe has done for most of his career, but Kobe has always played along side a PG, making Kobe a clear SG.
Now with Arenas, he has Stevenson at SG, and Stevenson obviously isn't a PG, but Arenas while at PG doesn't make a whole lot of noise in the discussion for PG since his scoring outweighs his assists so much. Seriously though, if we take out Arenas from the PG discussion, and don't even include him the SG discussion, we're being very unfair to him when other PGs are similar, like Parker who averages 18.3ppg but only 5.8apg. In comparison, Nash, Paul, and Williams all average over 1 assist for every 2 points, which is much more typical of a PG.
To me Arenas is like Iverson. You can place him at the PG spot, but you'll never refer to him as a PG.

Arenas is a PG and one of the best doing it. He is right up there with Nash, Paul, and Billups as the best PG's. I use to always get mad when people said Billups wasn't a PG. If he is playing a PG he is a PG period. Just like when people say Duncan isn't a PF but a Center, if he is playing PF he is a PF period.

A point guard is someone who runs the offense and makes his teams better before he looks to score. There shouldn't be any statistical or height criteria for something that basically boils down to the role a player has on the team. I don't view Gilbert Arenas as a point guard because he looks for his shot most of the time, and brags about his scoring exploits. He's a shooting guard playing out of position.

You need to brush up on your knowledge if you don't think Arenas makes his team and teammates better.

Compared to other top point guards in the league, he doesn't do as well.

Arenas is a shooting guard playing the point guard position.
He makes his team mates better in that, he requires a lot of attention as he is an extremely talented scorer.
But as in running the offense and moving the ball accordingly and making plays... he is "okay" at it. Again most of the times he gets an assists its because the attention/defense was focused on him...
as opposed to Paul, Nash, Williams etc, these players... they are the director of the offense... and as shown when needed, they are THE offense sometimes.
