Cavs after the Trades (merged threads)

Post#1 » by Bucs80 » Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:35 pm

After watching a month of Cleveland basketball, and Lebron James's putting more effort for the team to win games. Do you think now that the trade trades have been a failure?

They're missing 2 key player(Z and Gibson) and 1 good defender Pavs. So it's hard to evaluate. But it's clear that Wally is playing worse then Hughes, Big Ben is Big Ben(sucks) and Delonte is a huge question mark.

Lebron has a deep supporting cast with 3 other All-Star around him, so I would say they're better.

Players shouldn't be considered All-Stars in perpetuity; Wally was a one-time selection six seasons ago and didn't exactly post All-Star calibre numbers, anyway. Ben Wallace was a very good player at one point, but the jury is still out on whether his presence is even beneficial. Ilgauskas is still solid, but definitely not All-Star worthy anymore.

His supporting cast post-trade, if everyone plays up to expectations, would be mediocre, not deep.

Former All-Stars >>> Never All-Stars

The point is that roster has talent, as proven by last year's playoff run. When they get healthy, that's a nice supporting cast.

I'll take never all stars
Hedo
Pau Gasol
Lamar Odom
Andrew Bynum
Monta Ellis
Stephen Jackson

over any of the 3 previous all stars.
That is just an idiotic comment

Delonte West is the only player that can be considered an improvement over his predecessor.

Sczerbiak = Hughes
Wallace = Gooden

Neither has proven themselves with their new team. If anything, the Bulls improved after the trade.

Its a lateral move. The Cavs might be a little better, but not by much.

Not really. I'll take a guy who has never made the All-Star team but is at the peak of his career, over one who did half a decade ago, and is several injuries from his prime.

Talent doesn't win championships. If so, David Stern owes the Blazers a few from earlier this decade.

First, Pau Gasol is a Former All-Star

Second, this is all subjective and based on team need. The point is that the Cavs roster has talent.

They are just mediocre with different players and a ben wallace contract.

Ok. You take Payton, Reggie Miller, Pippen, Webber, Magloire and I will take Deron Williams, Mike Miller, Hedo Turkoglu, Gasol, and LaMarcus Aldridge aqnd lets see who wins.

Dumbest statement on here in weeks.

Yup. Swap Hughes for Wally, swap Hughes ugly contract for Wallace's ugly contract, swap Gooden for Smith. That is a lot of lateral movement.

shouldn't the whole roster get to play together for a few games before judging the trade?

Ben Wallace was brought in to play beside Z and about as soon as he gets here, Z goes out.

Wally was brought in to help spread the court with Gibson, they haven't had a chance to play together yet.

Unless someone else gets hurt, I suspect we'll finally see the team together in about a week.
