What's the worst team ever to make the playoffs?

Record-wise, at least. Nets are 11 games under .500 and are in the eighth spot. Anyone know where that ranks all time?

Anyone know what the best team is ever not to make the playoffs record-wise? Looks like a good possibility somebody out west will miss in the 12-15 games above .500 range.

Everyone keeps talking about how weird this year is--I'm curious how it ranks historically.

I don't know, but the playoff format used to be different. For example, in the sixties six of the league's nine teams and later eight of ten teams used to make the playoffs. The odds were probably similar when they went to 16 games.

the 2006 Miami heat were the worst champions I don't know about the worst team to make playoffs.

The Bulls made it in 85-86 at 30-52. That's pretty bad.

The 2003-2004 Boston Celtics, they were a 36 win team that got into the playoffs and were promptly blown out and beaten in 4 games by the Pacers.

I was thinking of those Celtics too but I think the '86 Bulls have us beat.

And the Bulls were 29-53 in 67-68 and made it in. I think the Bulls have the two worst playoff teams ever.

On the otherside of the coin: I think Utah at 42-40 (or 44-38) in 04-05 were the best record not to make it in IIRC.

The '94-'95 Celtics faced the Magic in the playoffs with a 35-47 record...

They won one game, and the Orlando Sentinel headline the next day was "Tragic Kingdom".

Now there's a record that's going to get broken this year.

The 00-01 Rockets, 82-83 Kings, 81-82 Warriors all missed the playoffs with 45 wins.

The nuggets will probably be the best team ever who don't make the playoffs.

But, can Bulls, Sixers or Nets be the worst ever THIS YEAR?

Any McGrady team... If you aren't going to compete give the spot to someone else.
