Is there a coach worse than Sam Mitchell?

-For the 3+ years he has been with us, we have never had a single legit play other than the pick and roll.

-I don't remember the last time we scored after a timeout.

-He plays Joey Graham in the 4th Quarter.

-Joey Graham even played C at one point.

-We even double team superstars like Smush Parker.

So is there a coach worse than Sam Mitchell?

Mr. Frank of the Nets has to be at the tippy top of this list.

SMitch is a bad tactician but occasionally he can light a fire under a guy's ass.

Active?

Sam Vincent is worse.
That guy with the name in Milwaukee seems pretty bad, although it seems like he gets it right occasionally.
Boylan, but he hardly counts.

Mike Woodson, but I'm biased. Or maybe I'm not, he has a career 95-210 record and its a legit question whether he'll break the century mark in this, his fourth year. The more talented we become, the worse of a coach he is... its the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen.

I've watched a lot of Raps games and I'll say this. Smitch isn't going to outcoach anyone but he's not going to hurt the team almost every game. The fact that he runs the PnR to death isn't a bad thing, Sloan has done that with the Jazz for his entire career... the Raps have the personnel for it after all. Mitchell has found something that works for his team, maybe he overuses it but that is still better than some of these coaches.

5 replies and we already have 6 coaches worse than Smitch: Woodson, Frank, Vincent, Krystkowiak, Boylan, Brown.

NBA coaches must really suck.

Well to be fair, Vincent and Larry K are in their first years and Boylan isn't a real HC. Woodson only has a job because the Atlanta ownership group wouldn't let BK fire him. I don't know what the Frank thing is about, he doesn't seem to sabatoge his team as consistently as these other cats.

He should be playing at least 15 a game although every time he is put in the game he commits bad fouls. Rookie mistakes but I would love to see him play more, too bad Frank is just real real bad.

Sean Will does? Where is this coming from... Mike Brown is hands down the worst though in my eyes. Lebron is the real coach of the Cavs.

Because he has 3 fouls everytime he played 2 minutes since the All-Star Break ... ( at least extremely often )

Jim Boylan and Sam Vincent managed to ruin their team chemistry this year , they should receive at least to be mentioned.

I disagree. Smitch manages to take ANYONE who was a decent player on another team and underutilize them:

Case and point: Rasho, Kapono, Bargnani, Delfino, Moon (last 2 only to a certain extent)

How is he under utilizing those players? Rasho is what he is, a serviceable backup center. Kapono and Bargnani are one-dimensional jumpshooters and Delfino and Moon have actually been pleasant surprises for the Raptors. Certainly not being under utilized.

Basically, most Raptors fan blame Mitchell for our #1 overall pick playing like garbage, but it's not Sam that's telling Andrea to miss shots, or run away from rebounds.

Is there a coach who deserve less than him win the COY last year? Sloan deserved, really.

Dunleavy is pretty bad. The Lakers handed the the perfect recipe to beat Phoenix and they still failed dispite actually having the personnel to execute it perfectly.

rasho - if not for the bosh injury rasho normally doesn't even get consistent minutes even though he's a steady back up c and the team desperately needs rebounding and post presence.

kapono - the best 3 point shooter in the league and they never run anything for him. even if he's 1 dimensional at least set some screens for the guy.

delfino - gets to do whatever he wants on the court and is constantly in his own little world whenever he touches the ball.

moon - again gets to do whatever he wants out there. if he wants to jack up a 3 with a hand in the face he will. smitch won't do anything about it. smitch loves moon and seems to care about him more than the progress of the team.

bargnani - horrible start to the season. his minutes were all over the place and i'm sure it had a huge impact on his confidence.

I still believe Colangelo will bring Ettore Messina from CSKA Moscow someday. It'll be a huge boost for you considering both guys coaching skills.
