He's a good rebounder, Hasn't played many minutes this season, but he looks like a good defender (he can block many shots)

His per minute stats - especially his rebounding - kind of suck. Looks like your average mid-to-late 1st round 7' white guy who will amount to nothing in the NBA.

Of course I could always be wrong.

I'm with Bucky on this one. I won't completely write Smith off yet but he's done nothing to justify getting any substantial playing time... Or a thread about him.

Watching him play, it seems like he has a good amount of potential. He's definitely not a stiff, which is nice.

Yea he has potential. He's rated about where he should be though. As others have said, he hasn't done anything significant enough to be considered underrated.

When the Heat drafted him, I was like "WTF!!!11!!"

And, then when we traded him a few minutes later for Daequan Cook and a future 2nd, I was like

He's a good player, he was good in college, has solid athleticism for his size and plays a smart game.

He will definitely survive in the NBA.

 Why does it matter whether he's white or not. You say it as if it's a negative thing that he's white. I hate when people say this kind of crap. You know how many black players there are that suck and don't make it to the NBA?

Just because you're white doesn't mean you suck.

Smith has a nice stroke for a 7 footer. He's not a bad rebounder, but he's certainly not good. He is a good weak side shot blocker, but his overall defense is nothing to write home about. He's athletic, can run the floor, and can put the ball on the floor very well for a 7 footer. A crippling weakness of his is his short wing span and low shot release in the paint. He needs to get stronger and establish his post game.

The fact that a thread has been made about him now makes him over rated.

For where he was drafted, Jason Smith is having about an average rookie year IMO.

I think he ultimately amounts to a decent rotation big man, not a starter or somebody who's out of the league in 2 years.

I prefer the old Jason Smith -- uncensored and unrated.

Very good player. He can be a decent center in this league someday.
