As somebody who can't stand Laker fans, this news actually dissapoints me. I don't want them having any excuses when they get knocked off in the playoffs. Unfortunately, looks like they might have two big ones (assuming Bynum doesn't come back).

^^not only do we have an excuse, but if lakers win champ it could get ugly in here.

when it comes to ankle sprains, you generally don't want to hear them say reevaluated. There certainly is plenty of time for him to be back before the playoffs, and in the west, I'm not sure the seeding matters all that much, where instead of anyone getting separation, the race just gets tighter.

The Lakers players, organization and fan base will use this as an excuse for the rest of time unless they win a championship. In June were gonna be talking about how Boston just ran the table in the playoffs and then Laker fans are gonna boo hoo their way into the conversation by saying "but Pau and Andrew..". Im more annoyed that this happened over anything else.

Seeding is important especially this season where everything is tight. You want homecourt advantage because you have a better chance to play the series with a lead. Plus first seed means you get the weaker team in the West bunch.. clearer path to the second round (though it's not a gimmie).

really, they are all so close, I don't think it matters all that much who teams face. There is an advantage to having game 7s at home. Beyond that, I'm not sure the rest matters too much.

you might have a better chance of having a lead in the series, but you also face the pressure of playing catchup if you drop one of the first two at home, which I think will be pretty common in the western playoffs.

Some teams have bad match-ups against specific teams and good match-ups against others, but things are too close for anyone to target a more favorable matchup. Dallas does look like they will avoid opening with Golden State. But even that could change completely in a week or so.
