Denver Nuggets are done.
Camby is 34. Iverson will be 33 by seasons end. Martin is over 30 now. Nene has serious health concerns which can't be overlooked. For a team 'built to win now' with two scoring machines they sure look to be a step slow. They won't even make the playoffs - and things won't be getting any better from here on out.

Iverson sure is over 30, but the guy is physically gifted that, he runs, plays hard, shoot heaps, carries a lot of the team's load, plays 40+ minutes.... yet hasnt really shown any physical decline.
Unless it all comes next season, which I doubt. The guy is an ironman.
Anyways, Nuggets simply didnt expect Nene to out again, they could use the type of player like him.
But really, any other season, Nuggets will be a lock at the 7th or 8th. JUst this season too many good teams.
They should trade Camby for picks and young talent now, they'll get a lot for him.

Not at all. In fact I made the post before I even saw the score of the 1st quarter. I actually like the Nuggets. Iverson is fun to watch and they had a lot of potential after the big trade last season but it seems like it just hasn't materialized.

Just a coincidence that right after the 1st quarter is when this was posted?

I just think this thread is premature, claiming that the Nuggets won't make the playoffs? Yes if the season ended today they wouldn't be in, but that's why they play they games just look at the Rockets run, not saying we are going to do even half that. But if the Nuggets don't make the playoffs or they get eliminated in the 1st round then I think they should consider the future but they is still hope for this team in Colorado.
Right now the Nuggets are playing the best team ball I have seen they play, the 5 game road trip is going to say a lot about this team. We shall see but the Nugs are far from out of it.

imo teams like the mavs and the suns look older and are older.
did we forget about the spurs? the rockets despite my admiration for them, have two injury prone stars.
imo, the nuggets if they make the 8th spot will be a nightmare for the 1st seed. absolute nightmare.
for a team so old like you say, they seem to have the second or third best offense.
and you know, they have MELO!

on the contrary, they're both having some of the best seasons of their careers....and are both on pace to play career highs in games in a season.
old, perhaps by nba standards....but neither have shown signs of letting up.
edit: camby has a triple double tonight. 2nd of season.
Martin is over 30 now.
and for the first time in his Denver career...he's completely healthy. and he's playing the best basketball of his nuggets career. he's looked like new jersey kmart for about 2 months now.
Nene has serious health concerns which can't be overlooked.
had testicular cancer, went through chemo...chance of reoccurance is extremely low, particularly in the next couple years.
For a team 'built to win now' with two scoring machines they sure look to be a step slow.
they're on pace to win 50 games...which in any other season would probably get you a top 4 seed.
They won't even make the playoffs - and things won't be getting any better from here on out.
melo's still young. nene has a good possibility of not having cancer next season. jr smith has shown vast improvements over the course of this season and will be re-signed.
i believe shaq's older than anyone on the nuggets. nash is up there too. as are duncan & kidd. tmac & davis will be in their 30's shortly. why not make a thread about their potential(s) passing?

Camby looks done tonight he had
13 Points
15 boards
10 assists
AI obviously slowing down
24 points
6 assists
That's just after the 3rd quarter even though they are done for the night Camby and AI have bodies that could last a long time in the NBA. Kenyon is the only one I would worry about. Nene is 25 but ill hold off judgement on him till I see him play again, like I did with Kenyon last summer. I think the Nuggets will be just fine.
