At season's end

Deron Williams = 24 years old
Carlos Boozer = 27 years old
Mehmet Okur = 29 years old
AK-47 = 27 years old
Ronnie Brewer = 23 years old
Kyle Korver = 27 years old
Paul Millsap = 23 years old

Look at how young that team is and how good they are already. I think Utah has easily a 5-7 year window to win titles if that group stays together. Also you have New Orleans who is young, Portland, Lakers and Houston is relatively young with their two stars being only 28/29

If Utah can keep their core together then they have a lot of time.

I don't see Sloan leaving until his team is no good anymore. Now that he stayed after the Malone/Stockton era, why would he leave now that his team has a great opportunity to win a title now?

I think they still need a defensive big before i take them 100% serious .
They're good but thats one thing still missing.

They've got no shot blocker besides AK and when somebody gets by AK there's not much resistance in most cases.

Pretty much sums it up, but they still need a legit 2 guard, and bruising center who can rebound and block shots.

AK is most likely going to have to be moved in order for the Jazz to free up space to sign Deron and Paul Millsap.

That will leave them thin as far as shot blockers go but apparently the Jazz have very high hopes for Kyrylo Fesenko who is huge and pretty athletic, and still very young. They locked him him for 3 years so he isn't going anywhere.

Much like the Hornets, as long as they hold on to Deron Williams they will be a competitive team.

Our window is wide open in terms of how long we have to win a championship. Like everyone knows our glaring hole is for a defensive minded center which Fesenko could provide, he's got a lot of potential IMO, but extremely raw so who knows how he'll turn out. Even if we threw him into the line-up right now he'd still make the entire starting line-up look much better defensively as he'll do an adequate job protecting the hoop. I really don't think AK stays here beyond his contract so that sucks, but even more so I'm concerned about losing CJ Miles. I think the kid will be fantastic and has shown when he gets time in our system he can really flourish, the Harpring era is coming to a close fast, but CJ will be gone by then unfortunately.

Utah is already a complete team. They were contenders last year. They are the clean-cut best team this year. I am not surprised if they win the championship this year and next 6 to 8 years on.

No they aren't. The Jazz are a bad road team with no interior defense. They're good, but not even close to being the "clean-cut best team this year."

I wouldn't say that they are a bad road team, rather that they fail to get up for bad teams on the road.....something that is a common failing of young teams. As weird as it sounds, the Jazz are the 5th (iirc) youngest team in the NBA. Even though we've had a deep playoff run already, we still have a long ways to go before we are a solid, hardened veteran team that takes care of business like clockwork.

If you look at it, we are one of the best teams in the NBA on the road against great competition. We beat both Detroit and Boston at their places, the two best (record wise) teams in the NBA. We beat Phoenix at Phoenix. We killed Golden State at Golden State (one of the best home teams in the league). We beat Denver at Denver (ditto). We beat Houston at Houston (their last loss, and when they were already on a 4 or 5 game win streak). We stuck with SA for an entire game before losing at the last minute there.....

On and on and on.

Follow that up with losses to the Bobcats, the Pacers, the 'Wolves, the Heat and New York, and you have a textbook profile of a young team that hasn't learned to maintain its intensity at all times.

And as far as "no interior defense".....just watch come playoff time. Okur has been very solid at times during the year, and was really good during the playoffs last year on that end. Boozer is similar, though its even harder to get him motivated. But when they want to, both are more than capable defenders.

If Ak were the shooter/scorer and Memo were the athletic shot blocker and defender, the would be my favorite to win it all now :lol:

that's what you see in regular season. Young teams usually don't do well on road.In playoffs, Jazz's interior defense was very good.

Yes, their defense can be better especially if Boozer can dedicate a little bit more on defensive end, but so far so good. Overall, they can flat out-talent any team in this league.

Utah has to solve their Memo-Kirilenko issue. They need Memo because they need someone to spread the floor for Boozer. Other than his shooting Memo is a decent big and he's cheap. What he lacks is defense and blocking, which is also what Utah need. Boozer is the worst defender big not named Amare Stoudemire and in this situation they might pull off a Memo trade. If Memo leaves they'll need another floor spreader. Other than Kyle Korver, they have no serious 3 point shooter. Kirilenko is not that guy so they'll have to move him, too. They can involve some multiteam trade actions mainly based on Memo for Przybilla or Dalembert and Kirilenko for Rashard Lewis. Names can change but they need that kind of a deal.

When Sloan retires they will go downhill. They have good players. But their biggest strength is that Sloan is able to pry every bit of potential out of a player.

great core of players but there's no way they can resign all of those guys unless they decide to take huge paycuts to stay in Utah.

only problem with their squad is they have zero defensive minded players in that young core and they'll have to give away their only great defender AK47 in order to resign Deron and someone else.

they could routinely average 110ppg in the future tho.

Phil Johnson is one of the best assistant coach in the league. He's ready to take over. I'm not worried about coaching.
