Nuggets won't make the playoffs, but Philly will !!! (poll)

Post#1 » by KRANG » Thu Mar 20, 2008 2:50 am

I just think this is pretty darn funny. The Philadelphia 76ers are going to make the playoffs, and it seems like the Denver Nuggets won't. How do ya like me now Iverson.

PS: I don't want to hear any crap about which division they play in.

Well I think it quite sad that I believe that Denver is better than more than half of the teams in the East in the playoffs and are a lotto team.

It's ironic, but not funny. Denver would be the 4th seed in the East.

I hate the Nugs with a white hot passion, but that's hardly crap. The Nuggets play in a far, far, far, far, far, far superior conference than the 76ers do. They'll probably finish with a better record than the 76ers. Not to downplay the 76ers recent play, but f they were in the West they'd be fighting for 10th or 11th in the conference. They will probably make the playoffs because they are fortunate to play in the horriffic East.

That being said, I was totally glad they beat the Nugs tonight.

Despite the obviously tougher competition in the West, it will look funny in the history books that AI demands this trade, goes to a team he's supposed to turn into a contender while the 6ers are supposed to fall of the map for years, and a year later AI's new team is in the lottery, while the team he abandoned is playing in the post season. Sure the Nuggets would be in the playoff picture in the East, BUT they're not in the East. How come AI didn't lead Philly to the playoffs in the weak East 2 years ago?

Facts are still facts despite the circumstances.

East sucks we all know and accept that. So jeering a player/team for failing to make it to the playoffs while holding a commandingly better record while cheering for a team that won't even make noise in a crappy conference is pathetic.

It's pretty fun to consider, but not really fair considering Denver would be in 4th place if they were in the East. Besides Denver isn't out of the playoffs hunt yet either, Houston could potentially slip and they still play the Warriors two more times this season.

It's funny when refs decide so many games in the NBA. The Nuggets probably would have won that game if it weren't for that bull non-goal tending call with a little over a minute to play, that would have given the Nuggets a two point lead. It wasn't even close either. The ball hit the glass and bounced a good five inches off it before Dalembert 'blocked' it. I'm not going to be pissed about it because the Nuggets have no excuses to even be in that close of a game against a team like Philadelphia, but still, no game should ever be that greatly affected by the officials.

Ponder this stat.

For a long time this season, the number of games difference between #1 and #2 in the east, was LARGER than the difference between #1 and #8 in the west. Thats how competitive the west is compared to the east.

The Rockets will probably miss the playoffs. The Nuggets have a very good chance of making it with their easy schedule.

I don't think it'll be a wicked easy series whoever faces Philly
