Chris Paul vs. Rafer Alston

This was before tonights game. Rafer made the following comments:

We beat New Orleans and people say they were without David West," said Alston. "Well David West isn't a superstar. He may be a star to their team, but he's not a superstar like Yao Ming."

Then, after the Hornets defeated the Rockets tonight, Chris Paul's quote back at Rafer:

"Tracy McGrady is a great player. If I was Rafer Alston I'd probably ride his coattails too."

Don't see what the problem is. What Rafer said was true. West is a real good player, but he isn't anywhere near a superstar, and he's not close to the player that Yao is.

So what's the big deal? Definite thumbs down to Chris on this one. What happened to him being this great kid who is so likable and polite, he went a little below the belt there, imo.

It was Vujacic who hit the winning shot for the bench team to end the Lakers' scrimmage Monday and taunted Bryant afterward about the "white kid busting your (rear)." Bryant smirked in response and said: "Did a 12-year-old just talk (trash) to me?"

A lot of guys have room to talk, Rafer Alston isn't one of them. He's firing up players that are going to continue to light him up.

When asked about the streak, and saying they were disrespected, he made sure to take a shot at the Hornets.

I like how it's ok for Rafer to talk smack all the time, but when Chris does it he's a diva.

Maybe no one would have any issues with the rockets if Rafer would just shut up and let his game talk(lol).

I agree. Rafer probably should learn to pick his spots when he starts calling out other players, but as far as what he actually said, I think he was right. West is a good player, but he's not a superstar. Whether or not you think Yao is a superstar, it still doesn't change the fact that Rafer was correct when he said that West isn't.

What Rafer said about West isn't wrong. But the fact that Rafer had to belittle him in such manner was wrong.

I think, they should hug it out. Paul should invite Rafer for a sleep-over.

Depends on your definition of superstar.

If it's about popularity, then Yao is without question a superstar and Chris Paul probably isn't.

If it's about production, then Yao isn't a superstar IMO but Paul is without question.

Not saying if I consider Yao a superstar or not (I don't), but I can see good reasoning for why someone would think he is based off popularity.

Personally I only think there are 2 bonafide superstars in the league in LeBron and Kobe. IMO they are the only 2 players who can be defined as superstars both off how popular they are and because of how good they play.

Well Rafer was using it in the sense of on the court, because he dismissed David West's absence as not such a big deal because "he's not a superstar like Yao."

Agreed with T-mac united, except for the hug it out part, I'm glad he's pissed Chris off.
