Would you take Jerry Sloan as your head coach?

Post#1 » by theTHIEF » Fri Mar 21, 2008 5:50 pm

just a simple question, not intended to incite an argument related to the Jazz or question Sloan's abilities and so on.

The question is, if for whatever reason Jerry Sloan became available, would you want him coaching your team?

if you choose yes, explain why, how would your team change in your opinion? if no, give a reason (i.e. "better" coach in place etc.)

No. We have Adelman. But Sloan isn't a bad choice either.

I don't know why you wouldn't. His team always makes the playoffs, he works extremely hard, he doesn't buy into anything in the media and he gets a ton out of his players.

How about "in a hot minute?"

His offensive system is developed, he knows how to control game tempo and momentum through judiciously applied timeouts, his rotations aren't stupid and he coaches good defense.

What more is there to ask of a coach?

I kinda have to disagree there. I think Sloan could get a lot out of Artest. Artest plays a lot like Jerry Sloan did. Both are defense first, tough, gritty, have attitude problems, and both have attacked fans in the stands. I think Sloan could get inside Artest's head enough to get him to play well. but on the flip side, if he couldn't you have a recipide for one hell of a fight.

I'm not really sure... I'm pretty sure Sloan would try to kill Sean and possibly even Marcus Williams...
