Restricted - cannot be signed out right, the current team the player is with still holds his right and can match any offer other teams makes to keep him in town

Unrestricted - no strings attached, any team in the league has a fair shot in signing him without having to worry about his current team matching the offer

Noxe, thanks for the clarification. I had a vague idea only.

Why is NYK the first thing that comes to mind? It was also rumoured the two LA teams were gonna try for Agent Zero.

I dont see LAL trying to sign Zero, they'd have to give up a lot of there depth for another scorer.

Arenas' "I'm going to opt out for a larger contract in 08" talk made more sense before he lost essentially the entire season to injury. Still, with his relatively small current salary (for a star player) he'll probably do ok on his next deal anyway. Washington likely offers a new contract at something like what he currently makes, with more years. The Clippers could make a run as well, at least if Maggette opts out. They wouldn't be able to offer a MAX contract, but I think they could offer close to what he currently makes.

JO giving up a $20M salary to become a free agent after several years of missing a lot of time due to injury, and even when on the court not playing near the standard expected of a $20M/yr player would be delusional. Maybe he gets $60M/5yr as a FA (from either Philly or Indy) but no more and likely less.

Unrestricted: Chris Duhon, Shannon Brown

Restricted: Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Demetris Nichols

I'm pretty sure Duhon is gone, but we have the guard depth to cover it. I would really like to see us keep Shannon Brown around, because he wont cost much and I think with time he could develop into a really nice player for us. With the restricted free agents, I'd love to keep both Gordon and Deng, but unfortunately it doesn't look likely. If I had to keep one, I'd choose Deng. As for Nichols, I wouldn't mind keeping him around either. He is essentially the same as Brown and Cedric Simmons in that I think it wont cost us much to keep them, but I think all 3 could develop into quality players.
