What's wrong with Dwight Howard?

It's more like what's wrong with his teammates and his coach. In the last 3 games he only shot 5, 7 and 6 each game. How could you perform when there is so few touches? I agree with SVG that Dwight needs to focus more on defense and rebounding, but doesn't he realize that Dwight is also their best player and he should get more touches?? He is not Ben Wallace for god sake......
I am just curious if SVG ever told his players to give Dwight the ball more, rather than bxtching about Dwight doesn't focus on the other aspect of the game.

1st game he was in foul trouble most of the game.

2nd one he didnt play for 7 mins in the 2nd and the whole 4th because of blowout.

3rd game he should of got it more, but had 11 foul shots so that took away some of his shots.

So yes, he needs more shots but theres more than it looks from the outside the past 3 games.

Thanks for the information.
But does you coach ever emphasis on getting Howard the ball?
Or he is satisfied with the way they are playing now?

1st quarter most of the time we force him the ball, pretty well too. He sits in the second though and after that, its either a turnover when we goto him (since they figure it out - I guess this indicates to our guards not to pass it to him ) or our guards just shoot it. Again in the 2nd half we usually go to him early but for stretches he wont touch it at all.. I mean we have capable 3 point shooters so I don't mind but there is definitely times where he needs the ball way more and our guards just like to chuck it up instead. Hedo is pretty much the only one that feeds him when nobody else is doing anything.

They could do with a absolute penetrate and dish point guard, someone who gets into the paint and drops it off to Dwight for easy dunks.

Who do you have in mind to fill that job? Remember it has to be someone the Magic have a chance at getting, so no Chris Paul or Deron Williams type answers.

the problem has been Dwight...he's in a slump...i think he has finally hit the rookie wall...he really needs to step it up...maybe another call out is in order...

Stan just gets the Magic Crew to change the nameplate on his locker to CLARK KENT. That should do the trick.

IMO Stan can't call him out again. Who know if it will cause resentment or have Dwight tune him out (...this again mentality might set in...). Gotta use the "call outs" judicially. The Magic are 7-3 so it's not like they are sliding and there pretty secure in 3rd so it's better to save any call-outs for the playoffs.

Dwight should get the ball more, period. Wether he plays well or doesn't isn't the point. He lacked defensively in the 1st, but got it together in the 4th, played good D, but rarely got the ball on O. Sure he's turning it over a lot and shooting the ball horrible from the FT line but anything is better then to watch Bogans should 3's all night. Dwight is young and will make mistakes, by getting him comfortable with those situations will improve some of his weak points. To sum it up, yes Dwight isn't totally innocent about this but he also isn't the only one to blame. Our primary scorer and franchise player. We need to implement him into the O or else we won't stand a chance in the playoffs.

Howard still needs to mature a bit. He doesn't have the mindset of a superstar just yet.

He was in bad foul trouble the first game, the second game was a blowout where he barely played and the last game was just sort of a fluke game. The Magic didn't take the Hawks seriously and lost.

The team overall is inexperienced, Dwight needs to step it up, could use a few pointers from Amare ;) guys been on a tear.

maybe dwight is just ready for the playoffs. in reality what do the magic have to play for? the are essentially a lock for 50 wins and the 3rd seed. they will not catch detroit and cleveland will not get the 3rd seed. he probably lacks a little motivation at times and i can understand that. you can see him playing with no energy against washington and then come back against philly and play with lots of energy and have a double double in 23 minutes. as long as he plays with passion and energy in the playoffs i don't give a **** about the regular season. its the playoffs where it matters now.

That was their sixth consecutive loss in Atlanta. I'm sure they didn't take the Hawks serious. Howard took it so serious he stayed in a hotel room by himself and turned off the phone so he could be 100% focused.

So he had one bad game overall then?

I wouldn't worry about the guards shooting it too much, there suppose to develop as threats otherwise you'd just be taken the LeBron route with Dwight. I'm sure in the playoffs Dwight will get plenty of shats and you won't see one of those SGs or backup PG taken too many important shots.

Despite how important you seem to think playing Atlanta is, the players thought differently. No one played with intensity at all.

Dwight could show Amare a thing or two on defense too.

I just moved to Orlando, and so obviously I have been watching the Magic a lot more. He's still crazy immature compared to the rest of the players both on his team and in the league.

He has an obvious case of being bigger then everyone else on the floor so he never developed the skills with everyone else on the floor syndrome.

He'll get it eventually, and when he does he should be Shaq like, but until then he will have stretches like this.

i say you you wait till playoff time this year to learn a lot about dwight. he has shown the ability to just turn it on. it was like night and day watching howard go from washington to philly. essentially people are dissapointed if he doesn't go out there and drop 25/15 or have like a 20/20 game.

Dwight is no ball hog like shaq.
