The Wacky West (the last two spots)

It would appear that the last two spots in the west are going to come down to Dallas, Golden State and Denver. Of the 3 teams, Golden State has played one less game than the other two. Denver lost their extra game, Dallas won theirs and has one other win. Thus the loss column looks like this
Dallas 26
Golden State 27
Denver 28
With 11 to 12 games left, who gets left out? A lot may be decided by sunday night as each team plays the other two between now and then. Golden State also gets an extra game in there against Portland to bring them even in games played. By sunday night each team will have just 9 games left and it could be a 3 way tie at 45-28 or either Denver or Golden state could fall off a bit.
These games are pretty much do or die for Denver as dropping both could make it really tough to get in the playoffs and they follow these two games up with a back to back vs Phoenix.
The pressure is also really on Dallas as winning both could really help secure a playoff spot with Dirk out while losing both puts them in real danger of missing the playoffs the year after their 67 win season.

yeah ever since the dirk injury i feel like they are going to fall like crazy. I believe they still haven't beaten a team over 500 yet and without Dirk then it will most likely continue

Did you know the Mavs this season is undefeated against the Warriors? I wouldn't sweat it... They'll make it. It'll be either Warriors or Nuggets as 8th.

what do the head to head matchups look like thus far between the 3 teams?

The 06 finals were cursed. The two teams playing in that finals went from in the finals to losing in the first round to out of the playoffs.

Nugs have split the season series so far with GS (1-1) and with Dallas (1-1) Winner of tonights games decides the season series for Den/Dallas. If Denver splits with GS they should also win that season series due to a better conference record.
I believe Dallas has won both meetings so far between GS, so they just need to win one of the last two to win the season series between the two teams.
Should be an entertaining last few weeks of the season.

So denver just pulled to within a game of dallas and now has the head to head tiebreaker. Golden State seems to be on their way to maintaining their spot right between the two teams as they are up 19 after 3, setting up a possible 3 way tie for the last two spots after sunday with each team having 9 games left beyond that.
