Players will go to teams that have cap space and money. Look for the Sonics, Grizz and T-Wolves to spend when big free agent crops come up.

Players with winning mentalities will leave the West but not many. Like Stephen Jackson saying he wants to be traded to the East due the capabilities of getting to the playoffs but also his allstar snub. Iverson I think will definately end up in the east with Ron Artest also. I think Brand ends up back in the East within the next 2 years. Jamison stays as does Marion. And even if Jermaine O'neal is traded to the West he'll end up back in the east. But within 3-5 years I see the confrences being more even.

In 5 years, LeBron and Dwight will be the two most dominant players in the entire world.
However, the west got the first 2 picks last year which will pretty much negate that.

Portland may be able to do something special, but Seattle is going no where fast.

Did Jackson really say that?
And he didn't get snubbed from the All-Star game, you have to deserve to make it before you can get snubbed. And he wouldn't make it in the East either.

^^^So you're saying all the defense and clutch play he's had this year aren't as good as Joe Johnson or those garbage east "stars?" And that article was satirical btw.

With past elite Western Conference teams such as the Spurs, Suns, Nuggets, and Mavs all getting older (especially with the Kidd for Harris and Diop trade) and players realizing that being in the East will give you a better chance of getting to the playoffs and an easier way t the finals, I think it will balance out, it will start to happen, not this next season, id say 3 years and we will see the Cavs (wherever Lebron is) getting some attractive free agents as well as the Magic. The Blazers are the only team right now that is a young and up and coming team in the West, you have Memphis, Wolves, and Sonics that all have young pieces but need a competant GM to put the team together.
3 years id say and we will see a shift in power, it will balance out.

Can he opt out of his contract after this season? Or is that not until next season?
If I was A.I. I would take a
serious look at Orlando & Cleveland....

Rashard Lewis mentioned getting out of the West as one of the reason he chose Orlando. Tons of money also surely helped.

I could see some free agents like EB go to the east...
guys like Maggette...
if the East gets Beasley, Rose and others the conferences will even up..
Since last season Oden and Durant both went out west

Sad thing is the West future may get even more loaded with Beasley and Rose with Minnesota and Seattle both poised as teams in position to get them.
Hopefully the cHeat at least get one of them. Preferrably Beasley
It will be absurd if the West gets Oden, Durant, and Beasley
