Just thought I'd point out that in March Deron Williams had the highest monthly assist total since January 1992. You won't read or hear about it anywhere else.

um...Ya. Kobe's 81 still gets plenty of media coverage, even a couple years after it happened. Deron's 212 will never be recognized by the national media. That's the point.

And yet, his per game assist average during the month of March is identical to Paul's - 13.3. It was just the serendipity of the schedule that enabled Williams to play 16 games in March with Paul just playing 15 games.

Have no other point guards in the last 16 years played 16 games in a month?

Maybe the media will mention Williams' March achievement now that March is finally over. It's only 4/1, give it a day or two. It will probably be recognized.

I love it. Let's just make this thread all about Chris Paul now. Good job, you brainwashed tools.

and?

So because Paul is having an MVP season, and gets loads of hype, everyone else should be ignored? Good call.

BTW, I'm the guy who figured out the last time someone had as many assists as Deron in a month.

Oh, for Pete's sake.

Deron Williams did something impressive that NO ONE else has done for years. I suppose now Jazz fans can never, ever call attention to such a thing without (1) necessarily having an agenda, or (2) starting a Paul/Deron flame war? Ridiculous.

No Jazz fan in this thread compared Deron to Paul, slighted Paul in any way, or even mentioned him. That came ENTIRELY from fans of other teams.

The point has been made that playing an extra game this month is what pushed Deron over the 200 mark (and 15 games is probably the criteria ESPN was using).

So, I mean, bravo, I guess. Just don't get flustered when people point out that over the same stretch of games, Deron isn't alone (and is in fact, behind).

Remind me to post a thread about how Chris Paul has 9 20+ point 15+ assist games this year...compared to 8 combined by the rest of the NBA.

No one cares. He got it because it's extremely rare to have 16 games in a month. It's like how all recent players are either at the top or near the top of the baseball playoff records. There are just way more playoff games now- it doesn't mean anything.
