Ref's Not Allowed to Review Whether Clock Starts Prematurely

A league spokesman told ESPN.com's John Hollinger after the game that referees can't review whether a prematurely started clock caused a shot to come after the buzzer. They can only review whether the shot actually beat the buzzer. That would make any Raptors protest difficult to win since the refs followed the letter of the law in disallowing Ford's shot.

Isn't that something? Referees devote attention to the clock throughout a game, like when a clock starts too late, or runs too long, etc., but are not allowed to question whether it starts too soon?

Give me a break! This league is a joke.

Yep, this rule burnt the Grizz against the Kings a couple years back (when Fratello coached). Kings inbounded, Posey tipped the ball - the clock didn't start - Bibby caught the tipped pass and drilled a game-winning three just before the incorrect clock hit zero. It sucks.
